Advise on 3 survival knives..

There's not much more I can add to what has already been said, but I will just give worthy praise for the Fallkniven F1. I've used mine quite a bit and it's always performed as expected. Then, when needed, it takes a wicked sharp edge and just keeps on kickin' butt. It's a knife that I have full confidence when using.

It truly is a gem of a blade.

I would also go with the standard F1. I have never heard of a serious issue with this knife despite the ga-zillion internet posts and video reviews about it. Seeing how we're largely a pack of ranting buttheads when we buy a knife that fails to perform to our expectations, a 100% positive (or at worst neutral) response rate should give you a really good idea of how good the Fallkniven F1 really is.

The reason why i prefer to include the 3g version of the H1 instead of the VG-10 is that i have had a bad experience with the latter.
For the completeness of the thread i'll also post a few pictures then ^^ :

It looks like the edge rolled and deformed when it contacted the broken glass bottle?

You might ask around to see if anyone has used any of your targeted knives against glass....I have never had a decent edge last through a battle with glass.

I am not trying to start an argument or anything...perhaps 3G will cut glass and retain an edge (I have no experience with it), but it would surprise me if it could!...and what a drag it would be to pay more for a knife that you expect to survive such an encounter if it won't.

I'm not planning on using the fixed in an urban setting. So normally it shouldn't have to deal with glass. ^^ (Maybe if i have to take everything in account, it could collide with some rock material but this is somewhat farfetched.)
I just trust VG-10 less because of it.(the blow that caused the damage was really not that hard) Perhaps my disposition towards that particular steel is now somewhat biased but i can't help it.

grts

I was just concerned that you might spend up for a super steel only to find it will perform only marginally better (or no better) in the conditions that lead to your exclusion of VG-10.

It is these biases that lead to options...and options are good.
