Advise Please on Good Choice For Antler Scales -

I haven't used stag in quite a while. I quit using it when I would order 5 pieces and only get 1 or 2 that I could use. Where do I find quality stag ??? I make internal knives so I can't use scales.

I will only buy stag at hammer-ins or other knifemaking get-togethers. That way I can pick out the pieces I want. It's fun searching for that perfect piece... After ordering wood through the mail, I try to aviod ordering anything through the mail that is supposed to have interesting character. African blackwood and stablised ebony are about all I don't mind having mailed, as far as naturals go. I've seen a few places on the net that show each piece for sale, which ain't a bad idea.

I like whitetail antler, I finish mine with thinned linseed oil, mineral oil sounds good too. I really like the shape of the crowns. What species antler was Scagel using? His stuff has held up very well.
