Hey Darrin, nice looking kiri's. I have a lot of friends in the retail industry, and a 3.5" kiri with different edge geometry would be perfect for legal boxcutters. Legal here is 3.5" total length, according to most store policies.

Thanks SC, I have one on my bench that I use daily to open packages, letters, etc.. What type of edge geometry would you suggest?

Well...I was going to show you a design sketch, but BF keeps telling me "invalid file extension.'' Basically, it is an L shape blade, with the L point angled at 70 degrees instead of 90, ground inside up from point about 3/4", with small finger grooves on handle.

I'd love to see it. Maybe you could send it to my Gmail address. Its listed in my sigline if you care to give it a try. Do you think it would work best as just a bare steel blade or sould some thin scales make it a little more ergonomic?

I think with some 3/16" scales and two front finger grooves, with a little belt kydex sheath, it would be a seller for sure. As my buddy Kahn (not kidding! real name and a huge muscled guy) at Safeway tells me, they won't let employees carry folders, but fixed blade utility knives are allowed. Albertson's has a policy about no outward facing blades, which is stupid because box knives fit the description but are allowed.
I'll email you the design, but I think the tang needs a different shape.
