I am getting ready to grind some thin paring knives [.060] and was reading that AEB-L has a tendency to warp while grinding untreated, especially the thin materials. The other forum recommended heat treat then grind. Thought I would see what you folks thought about this.
Thanks and best wishes.

On my paring knives in AEBL, I do a thick rough grind before heat treat. It does bend a little, but I can usually grind or bend it back straight before hardening.

I did a large batch of aebl around .098 and hardened to around 61-62 and still the nicest steel I've ever ground. Elmax was close but considering how hard the aebl was it was a pleasure to grind it.
