AEB-L

Can’t go wrong with the suggestions listed above. Another option would be to look at LT Wright’s blades. They do many camp/bushcraft knives in different steels, AEB-L is one.

I would love to agree with you, as I love their designs, and quality....
But they run their AEB-L too soft.

I would recommend their A2 or O1 models, instead.

*I Really like them, still have a few

A couple of years ago, I was able to pick up a DEK1 in AEB-L at one of Nathan’s Friday sales. I arrived comically late, memory wants to say half an hour, but it was probably more like five or ten minutes after the witching hour. To my surprise, there were still a couple of DEKs available, and a couple of Kepharts. I thought this might be because AEB-L was not quite popular enough to trigger the feeding frenzy that accompanies most CPK sales.

AEB-L’s stock seems to have gone up in the intervening months.

Remember when you could actually buy a Carothers without paying secondary scalper fees 😂. Those AEB-L DEK1’s and Kepharts would sit for days sometimes.. great knives in great steel
