Up for sale, this Wa Handled Gyuto in AEB-L with Ironwood handle.
This is a fairly thin ground blade, but perhaps not quite a laser. It features an asymmetrical grind.
Full flat grind on the back, slight convex on the front side (right) giving it a bit more heft than a full flat laser grind. The blade is hand ground in my shop and hand finished to 1200 grit oil sanding.
The blade is sharpened and polished to 5000 grit using water stones. It will easily push cut paper.
The blade has a slight taper from heal to tip. The tip is thin for slicing.
The spine and choil are rounded for comfort.
The balance on this one is right in front of the handle behind the choil.
The ironwood handle features a modified D shape with a very nice contrast between dark and lighter swirls. The spacer is stainless. The handle is hand sanded to 1200 and oiled. The finish is food grade mineral oil and bees wax. I prefer Boos Block board cream to finish and maintain the handle wood.
It can be touched up with cream occasionally to show the great figure and to condition the wood to last.
AEB-L at 60 hardness by TruGrit.
Asymmetric grind as noted above.
Overall Length at 362 mm (14.2 inches)
Blade length at 222 mm (8.75 inches)
Handle Length at 132 mm (5.2 inches)
Blade height at 46.5 mm (1.82 inch) at heal
Spine thickness is 1.96 mm (.07 in) at heal, 1.76 mm 3 inches from tip (slight taper).

Payment is via PayPal or money order. The first "I'll take it" will get priority.
