I made several of this design last year. This is the last one to be finished up.
Dimensions:
8.5" OAL
4.25" handle length
3.75" edge length
This one has a nasty distal taper with a spooky thin tip, with .005 behind the edge.
The bevels are ground on a 36" radius platen. It is an extreme slicer.
The blade is hardened by Peters to rc 60-61 with the cryogenic temper.
This grind is akin to the knife of mine in BladeForum member Ankerson's thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...based-on-Edge-Retention-cutting-5-8-quot-rope
The fit and finish is much improved and the blade is larger of course.
The handle is Australian "Dead Finish" from the Timber Joint. It has beautiful red-orange hues with some black lines.
I am asking 170$ for this or 200$ including a sheath.
I am very proud of this cutting geometry that I achieve completely free hand! If you dont fall completely in love with the knife within a week of receiving it, you may send it back for a full refund.
