I've done this the past few years—most recently here: http://www.bladeforums.com/threads/afaustins-4th-annual-“-going-to-the-dogs”-sale-knives-added.1376501/ It’s been a lot of fun, and with the help of all the great dog and knife lovers on BF, a tidy sum has been raised for the pups. So this will be the 5th Annual "Going to the Dogs" Sale!

We are dog lovers in my family, always have been, always will be. We have 3 rescues ourselves and try to help out the local dog organizations to the extent we can. The first 2 sales benefited the Austin Humane Society, which does great work and we continue to support them. The last two years the sale beneficiary was the Highland Lakes SPCA, a no-kill shelter which is a bit closer to where we live. They are wonderful people and do a whole lot of good for the pups.

But this year is different. Texas was slammed by Hurricane Harvey, and the animals have suffered just as the people have (and as I put this up, Hurricane Irma is beginning to hit Florida--- a prayer for those folks as well). The three biggest animal welfare organizations in Austin, the closest city to us, have come to the aid of the animals affected by Harvey in a big way. They are: Austin Pets Alive!: https://www.austinpetsalive.org/ Austin Humane Society http://www.austinhumanesociety.org/ and Emancipet: https://emancipet.org/ 100% of the proceeds from this sale will go to one or more of these three excellent organizations. The reason I’m not specifying which right now is that I’m hoping that one or more of them will have a matching donation program open up before my sale is over. I always like to get maximum bang-for-the-buck, so if that happens, that organization (or organizations) will get priority.

I'm going to start this sale now, and I’ll add more knives as we go---so please keep checking back.

Once the sales are done and the total proceeds are donated to one or more of the organizations named above, I'll post the receipt(s)---to show I kept my commitment and didn't blow it on knives! I ran this by our friendly neighborhood supermod before I did the very first one of these sales, and he kindly gave me the green light (thanks again, Mike).

Update: Please also see Part 2 of this sale here (additional knives): https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/part-2-of-afaustin’s-5th-annual-going-to-the-dogs-sale.1520900/

Update: I'm going to close this Part 1 thread now as I've relisted its remaining knives in Part 3 here: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/part-3-of-afaustin’s-5th-annual-going-to-the-dogs-sale.1522378/

Update: Please also see Part 4 here (additional knives): https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/part-4-of-afaustin’s-5th-annual-going-to-the-dogs-sale-phils-knives.1523906/

Update: Please also see Part 5 here: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/part-5-of-afaustin’s-5th-annual-going-to-the-dogs-sale.1526764/#post-17532015

10/15/17 Update
:
All remaining knives have now been consolidated for sale in Part 5 here: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/part-5-of-afaustin’s-5th-annual-going-to-the-dogs-sale.1526764/#post-17532015 So I'm going to close Parts 1, 2, 3, & 4 at this time.

10/25/17 Update
:
The remaining two knives (GEC Crownlifter and Case Muskrat) are WITHDRAWN.

I'm getting the sales totaled up and communicating with the organizations about the donations (and possible matches). Will be wrapping this up soon. Thanks to all who have helped!

10/26/17 Final Update: It's a wrap! Please see Part 6 (Donations Made!) here: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads...oing-to-the-dogs-sale-donations-made.1529020/

Details:

Prices include shipping, USPS 1st Class, w/ Delivery Confirmation. PayPal or m.o. only. I'll cover the PayPal fees, so go ahead and list it as a sale of goods, not a gift. (If you want insurance, let me know and I will figure your cost. Otherwise, I will not be responsible for items lost or damaged in the mail.)

Please understand that I have the right to sell or not sell to whomever I choose.

1st unconditional "I'll take it", followed up with prompt payment. For PayPal info. or questions, please e-mail me at: aforsythe4 (at) austin (dot) rr (dot) com

Once we have a deal, please post "I’ll take it" in this sales thread (if you haven’t already). The new BF software requires that in order for us to exchange feedback, which I think is important.

By buying these knives you are stating that you are at least 18 years of age, and otherwise in compliance with all applicable laws regarding them.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~
International Sales Policies:
1) I fill out the Customs forms accurately, and so I will list this as a sale/commercial transaction, not as a gift.
2) You assume responsibility for any mishaps with Customs or shipping.
3) We will agree on the manner and additional cost of shipping before finalizing the deal. Also, PayPal charges a higher fee on international sales, so I will approximate that and add it to your total.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Now without further ado, let’s get on to the knives!

Thanks, and thanks for helping the pups!

Andrew

2) Case Muskrat in Smooth Persimmon Orange Bone. Stainless blades. There is a story on this one. I bought one of these new and sharpened it up on my WSKO. The long thin blades took great edges and were very slicey. But there was a bit of a proud spring on the mark side when the blade was open. I ultimately decided to send it in to Case as per their excellent warranty. They took care of it and sent me back this knife, which is very nice---no proud spring, great walk & talk, and no blade rub that I can see. It’s obvious that the blades are brand new because they have factory edges, but I can’t tell if they just replaced the blades or sent me a whole new knife because the scales look about the same as the ones on the original knife. Whew—long explanation, but wanted to give the full background.

The upshot is that the knife is basically new, unused, unsharpened, and without the proud spring which I gather may happen sometimes on Case Muskrats: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-Lets-Talk-Muskrats!/page3?highlight=Muskrats

Includes box & paperwork. WITHDRAWN

6) Case #63032 Stockman in Chestnut Jigged Bone. CV blades. Sharpened to nice edges, used, and carried. The tang on the sheepie is filed down so that it sits low when closed, and it’s sharpened down to resemble a long thin coping blade. All blades have ample rub marks. Nice little user.

Came to me with a Case box, but for a different knife (Texas Jack), and that box is included. $25.00 SOLD

12) Winchester "Black Box" 2935 (1988) Half Whittler. Made in U.S.A. 3 1/4" closed. No half stops.

This is a beautiful vintage "Black Box" Winchester in excellent condition with typical rub marks on the blades. Both blades have acute needle points, but I had trouble getting a very sharp edge on them for some reason (maybe D2 instead of 1095?) and am going to leave that to the new owner.

Includes original box. $45.00 SOLD
