Ive done this the past few years---here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1017174-AFAustin-s-quot-Going-to-the-Dogs-quot-Christmas-Sale-Sale-Over-amp-Donation-Made and here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/sh...-(Traditionals), and here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...ot-Going-to-the-Dogs-quot-Sale-(Donation-Made) I've had a lot of fun doing it, and with the help of all the great dog and knife lovers on BF, a tidy sum has been raised for the pups. So this will be the 4th annual "Going to the Dogs Sale"!
We are dog lovers in my family, always have been, always will be. We have 3 rescues ourselves and try to help out the local dog organizations to the extent we can. The first 2 sales benefited the Austin Humane Society, which does great work and we continue to support them. But last year the sale beneficiary was the Highland Lakes SPCA, a no-kill shelter which is a bit closer to where we live:
http://www.highlandlakesspca.org/ They are wonderful people and do a whole lot of good for the pups. I continue to believe in them and they will be the beneficiary of the sale again this year.....and this time with a great kicker: in early April, they will be having a "challenge match" fundraiser, with generous donors lined up who will match every dollar contributed during the fundraiser. Im going to start this sale now, moving slowly and and adding some knives over the next few weeks---so please keep checking back.
By the time the fundraiser begins in April, I hope to have a nice amount in sales proceeds to donate---which will be matched dollar-for-dollar---doubling the benefit to the pups!
Im also putting up a similar thread in the modern folders sales forum: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-Dogs-Sale-(moderns)?p=15862057#post15862057 The proceeds there will likewise go to the same good cause.
Once the sales are done and the total proceeds are donated to the Highland Lakes SPCA, I'll post the receipt---to show I kept my commitment and didn't blow it on knives! I ran this by our friendly neighborhood supermod before I did the first one of these sales, and he kindly gave me the green light (thanks, Mike).
All that said, lets get to the knives!
Update 3/18/16: This thread is closed and "Part 2" is now open: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-s-4th-Annual-Going-to-the-Dogs-SalePart-2
Update 4/14/16: The Highland Lakes SPCA "matching donation" fundraiser was delayed a bit but is now set to begin May 1st (see flyer below). So my plan is to put up one last sales thread in late April with a few remaining knives, and then close everything out and make the donation around the 1st, and put up a post about it. The sale(s) have gone very well and thanks again to everyone who has bought a knife (or 2 or 3) and helped the pups!

Update 5/9/16: This sale has now ended very successfully---$1037.00 raised for the pups! The details are at the end of the last thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...inal-Thread)-ALL-SOLD?p=16066538#post16066538
Thanks again to everyone!

1) GEC Northfield 651115 Ben Hogan 1865. 4 ½" closed. Tortoise Shell Acrylic scales. Bought this one new and havent used, carried, or sharpened it. I posted about this nice knife (and its brother) here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1310484-Two-Shiny-New-Ben-Hogans I ended up sending this one back to Chris at GEC and they did an excellent job of adjusting the spring so as to eliminate the blade rapping. This one is just about perfect now.
Includes tube and wax paper. $70.00 SOLD

2) GEC Tidioute Scout 735113. 3 3/4" closed. Ebony scales. Good used condition. Sharpened to a nice edge.
Includes tube and wax paper. $60.00 SOLD

3) Case Small Saddlehorn TB61110. 3 ½" closed. SS blade. I believe these are the Kentucky Bluegrass scales (which are actually green). I bought it slightly used and havent used, carried, or sharpened it myself. Looks like it has the factory edge.
The small single blade Saddlehorns are harder to find than the 2-blade versions, and IMO are much nicer, sleeker knives.
No box. $45.00 SOLD

4) Case Small Saddlehorn TB61110. 3 ½" closed. Dark red jigged bone scales. SS blade. I have sharpened it to a nice edge and carried it a couple of times.
The small single blade Saddlehorns are harder to find than the 2-blade versions, and IMO are much nicer, sleeker knives.
No box. $45.00 SOLD

5) Schrade C627 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] Generation pen knife. A small one at 2 5/8" closed. Made in U.S.A. Attractive wood scales. Schrade+ stainless blade. I bought it slightly used and havent used, carried, or sharpened it myself. Looks like it has the factory edge. Info. on the very interesting and cool looking Schrade 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] Generation line:

I bought this in like new condition and havent used, carried, or sharpened it myself. Appears to have factory edge.
The shield says "1945-1995" so Im guessing its an anniversary knife.
No box. $40.00

7) A.G. Russell Rancher. 3 5/8" closed. Made in China for AGR. Black Rucarta scales. Good used condition. Very sharp.
No box. $27.00 WITHDRAWN

9) Boker 5252 Half Congress. 3 1/4" closed. Made in Solingen, Germany. 1978 -1984 vintage per the vendor I bought it from. Wood scales (my guess is dark rosewood). I believe the blade steel is carbon but havent used it so no "patina test" to confirm. It appears to be unused, uncarried, and unsharpened. The middle pins sit proud and you may want to sand them down a bit. Beautiful "Tree Brand" etch on main blade (which doesn't show well in my poor photo).
No box. $45.00 SOLD

10) Remington R-16 Half Congress. 3 1/16" closed. Made in U.S.A. Laminated hardwood scales with an attractive deep red liner. Basically unused but I have sharpened both blades and made the pen "pointier". There are rub marks on the sheepsfoot main. The gent from whom I bought it says that it was made for Remington by Camillus, he believed in the mid-late 1990s.
No box. $40.00
