Welcome to my 7th Annual “Going to the Dogs” Sale. I’ve been doing this for, well, seven years now, and it has been great fun and very rewarding. You can see last year’s sale here: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/afaustin’s-6th-annual-going-to-the-dogs-sale-part-1.1591177/ and it in turn will provide a link to the previous year’s sale, and etc., etc., back to the first one in 2012.

We are dog lovers in my family, always have been, always will be, and seven years ago I came up with a way to combine my love of pocket knives with my love of dogs by selling off some of my collection to benefit worthy organizations who help the pups.

Last year I posted a pic of my wife and me with our 4 rescue dogs. Sadly, we’re down to 3 now as our big blonde shepherd, Boy, passed away in February. Before he came to us, Boy had had a hard life and spent most of it on a chain. He was 12 years old and with numerous health issues when we adopted him, and while we knew he might not be with us long, we promised that he would have a good life for whatever time he had remaining. And a good life he had—a loving family, a pack he fit right into (and quickly led), a big yard to play in, walks every day, a comfortable bed (inside!), good food, and the best vet care. He was a noble dog and despite his hard life, he showed only kindness and seeming gratitude to us. We really miss him, and this year’s sale is dedicated to Boy.

As in past years, 100% of the proceeds of the sale will go to organizations which help dogs. I prefer to choose organizations which have some sort of matching funds challenge available, so that the sale’s contribution gets double bang-for-the-buck. Last year I split the proceeds between two terrific organizations, the Austin Humane Society: http://www.austinhumanesociety.org/ and Soi Dog: https://www.soidog.org/ and each did have a matching funds opportunity, so the contributions were doubled. I’m still communicating with organizations at present and trying for the matching funds, so stay tuned on that.

Likewise as in past years, I’m getting some much appreciated help from a few great dog and knife men. My friend Kirk H., one of the premier Bark River collectors on the planet, has provided an extremely generous jump start with a $250 contribution, which will be added to the proceeds from the sale. Two great friends from here on the forum, just as they did last year, have sent me a bunch of quality knives to add to the sale. Although they’ve asked to remain anonymous, they have made their home states of North Carolina and Arizona proud. And there may be at least one more donor to come.

I have a lot of knives to sell, so as in past years, this sale will have several “Parts” which will go up every week or so, adding a new group of knives. So please keep checking back.

Finally, we’re dealing with a few ongoing medical issues at my house, and they involve trips to Drs., clinics, etc. Sometime during the sale there may also be an out-of-town trip which lasts a few days. So there will be days when I’m away from the computer for a few hours and unable to respond quickly, and if the trip happens, there will be a few days delay in when I can ship. That said, I plan to stay on top of the sale and should be able to log on and communicate every day. I just ask that you bear with me as far as any short delays.

Once the sales are done and the total proceeds are donated, I'll post the receipt(s)---to show I kept my commitment and didn't blow it on knives! I ran this by our friendly neighborhood supermod before I did the very first one of these sales, and he kindly gave me the green light (thanks again, Mike).

International Sales Policies:

I like the international character of BF and so I’m usually willing to jump through the extra hoops to do international sales. Unfortunately, I’m a little more pressed for time this year due to the medical issues mentioned above, so I’m going to have to make it U.S.A. only for this sale.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now that all that’s out of the way, let’s get on to the knives!
Thanks, and thanks for helping the pups!
Andrew
5) Case Splitback Whittler #6383WH in Kentucky Bluegrass Bone.
Stainless blades. Some blade rubs as expected with this pattern. Original owner did a nice job with a few mods: he smoothed the covers for more of a pocket worn look/feel; converted the small pen blade to a coping blade; and gave the blades a satin finish. The blades are thin and have taken very nice sharp edges.
Includes box & paperwork. $45.00 SOLD
7) Parker Eagle Brand Small Lockback with Hardwood Covers. 3" closed. Stainless blade. Nice grain on the hardwood covers. Originally had a small spot on the edge of the blade from blade rap (where the blade hits the back spring when closed with enthusiasm), so I inserted a tiny piece of cork in the well under the tang to remedy that. Sharpened to a nice edge (which may’ve taken care of the blade rap, but I’ll leave the cork in place to be on the safe side). Used almost none. Very handsome little vintage knife. Made in Japan.
Includes box. $30.00 WITHDRAWN
8) A.G. Russell Small Doctor’s Knife in Smooth White Bone.
Made in China (and A.G.’s China made knives are very very nice). You won’t believe what a long main blade A.G. fit in this 3" closed knife. And the mini scalpel is just plain cool.
Top notch fit and finish and pretty bone covers. Carried a few times and blades are sharpened to nice polished edges (those are reflections on the edge in the pics).
No box. $50.00 (and please know that A.G. charges $8.95 for shipping) SOLD
9) Buck # 303+ RWS Cadet in Rosewood Dymondwood. 420HC stainless blades. 3 1/4" closed. Made in U.S.A. New and unused. Along with the typical small gaps there is a more noticeable gap between the spring and liner which is seen in one of the pics. Also, the grind at the tip of the sheepie is a little off, which is also shown in the pics.
I don’t have much knowledge or experience with Bucks, but gotta say I like the 3 springs and the way they arrange the blades so that no crinking is necessary and the sheepie rides low.
No box. $30.00 $27.00 $25.00 WITHDRAWN and SOLD in the Buck sales subforum: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads...ewood-dymondwood-benefiting-the-pups.1672685/
10) GEC #351217 Churchill in Maroon Linen Micarta. Unused and unsharpened. Lovely moderate pulls. There was a tiny light colored dot on the pile side of the covers close to one of the end pins and I touched it with a black Sharpie to make it even less conspicuous. I tried to show it in my pic but it’s very subtle.
Includes tube & wax paper. $100.00 SOLD
