Hi all. I've been seeing alot on here about the BM AFCK and it has made me pull mine out. I bought mine new in box March 2001. The sticker on the box says "First Production AFCK-II". The blade has an oval thumb hole, is made of 154CM and stamped "First Production 067/500" (#67 out of 500). I have carried it from time to time. No real heavy use. Seems like a good, trusty knife. I guees I'm just wondering about the diff. to the AFCK-1, your opinions on my AFCK-2, what is it worth, ......... ect, etc. Thank you all, MW

I have a couple of the mini AFCK's

great knife, my first needs the edge thinned down though.

I'm thinking the AFCK 1 had a round hole and the oval hole was a way of avoiding the Spyderco licensing for the round hole.

The difference between the 800 and the 804 is the 804 has an oval hole and the 804 has 154cm where the 800 used ATS 34. Those are the two changes. It is tougher to find an 804 than it is an 800. I like the 804. Enjoy it. Kevin

kda is correct the only differnce is the hole and they went to 154CM vs the ATS34, and the 2 steels are about the same anyway except 154CM is made in the US of A and ATS is from Japan.

BM prototypes are occasionally worth a small premium to a collector, sometimes, maybe, 1st production runs are worth whatever a std one is worth, no premium on them at all.

and yes the oval hole was BM's response to the deal/license they had with spyderco for the round hole expiring.
