Maybe this is in the wrong place, my first post. Got my first BM a few years ago, the AFCK ats 34 blade. It was a lot of money for me but got it anyway. Now it was time to send it in for BM to get it sharp again. I do sharpen it. The short story is:

Got a call from BM and the knife was not in the bubble wrap package! It's gone. Sent with no insurance.

It looks like it will be hard to get another one. Now what. Thanks for being my shrink today, now where is that box of Kleenex.

OUCH! Geez, I'm sorry man. Thats a tough one to swallow. No advice here, just some sympathy.......

Sorry to hear.. AFCKs are great knives... They are indeed hard to find the older ones with the hole and ATS34-no axis lock versions...

AFCK axis locks come up once in a while, but they are close to $200 and on up...

It IS just a knife.. keep an eye out in production folders... 3 just went up, all very expensive though... gl!

Find a 806 AFCK with the Axis lock. D2 steel, or better if you find a limited edition. They pop up on occasion on flea bay, here, other knife forums...

That is really sad... :(. It's such a precious knife to loose... sorry man... I agree that it's time to find an axis version, you will be very happy again! I bought a limited edition in the exchange here.. And never arrived...not sure if it got pinched or was never sent, so I know how it feels in a way... Very cuck...

Oh man that sucks. I always wrap my "padded mailer" envelopes with thick packing tape, that way sharp corners (on the item inside or objects outside) won't tear it open. Very dangerous to mail small metal objects in padded mailers with no insurance and no added protection. A piece of cardboard on each side of the knife can also help ensure postal employees don't get themselves free knives. (Not implying your knife was stolen, I mean so it doesn't accidentally rip open and fall out).

I'm sorry for your loss man, it sucks to loose a knife, especially in such a lame manner.

Don't know if this helps you at all, but i did just give a fairly new condition AFCK to a forum member. Don't know if he might be willing to trade it or not. It was partially serrated, this a pic of it next to my first which I used the hell out of:

I can ask him if you would like.

I see all the knifes that are shown on here and had taken it all apart and put all the screws in the drill chuck (lightly) and used 2000 sandpaper and made swirls on them and used the 2000 paper all around the liners and on the flat sides of the liners so they looked like Crome! Also the clip. Took a long time and even with the 2000 paper I had no finger prints when done! It looked good to me.

Call Benchmade and talk to them. I know that its a long shot but maybe they can do something for you. They have great customer service. I can't just see them saying "oh well..."

Yes, they called me with the bad news. They are helpful, thirty percent off a knife. I never had anything lost in the mail, that's why I didn't insure it - bad idea.

That sucks man. I had something similar happen to me, but on the return trip. Knife was lost. Benchmade had enough pieces to make me a new knife. But again, it was coming from them to me.

This might be blaspheme as I'm as big a fan of Benchmade as I am of Spyderco.... that said why don't you pick up a PM2 or a stretch? I'm a huge fan of odd man out steels like ATS and 440C btw. That's the one part of the puzzle that you can't replace in a newer knife!

That's a damn shame. If you are interested, I have a CPM-M4 Limited Edition one in good shape I'd like to sell.

A buddy of mine bought all the stock a certain knife dealer had of m390 benchmade afck's He's a dealer but hes also my friend, He MIGHT have one left , I'll give him a call If youd like. He bought something like the 30 they had left in stock. On another note that sucks man, Did benchmade say the package looked tampered with, or do they think it just fell out, or got damaged , either way that sucks...If you want me to make that call let me know, if I'm offline just send me an e-mail. Here is the configuration of the knife he bought black blade with blue/black g-10, not my pic got it from google, but it said it came from bladeforums, so sorry If i borrowed someones pic..

I am so sorry to hear that! It always sucks to lose a knife. I had never lost a knife until this past summer when somehow my Yellow Mini Ritter Grip slipped out of my pocket at the Pride festival. I looked everywhere for it and all I can come up with is someone found it and is sporting a BM Mini Ritter. I had knives that were much better than that knife but I loved it and it was the one knife I carried and ended up using the most.
It's not as precious as an AFCK, however, it was to me. So I can relate a little.

I say keep an eye out for one in the exchange. Even one of the ones with the axis and blue/black G-10 in m390. That's always been a grail of mine and for some reason it seems to pop up more than the older ones.

I would also look at all of Benchmade's knives on their site(they have some awesome ones) and get that 30% off. At least until you can find an AFCK.

Also, as mentioned.. Spyderco does have some amazing knives.
