Which would you choose?

With the AFCK you get g-10 scales and 154CM, but a liner lock.

With the Griptilian you get zytel scales and 440C, but an axis lock.

Too bad I cant have an AFCK with an axis lock.:(

My AFCK is on its way to sale next weekend at a gun show. The Griptilian will ride in my pocket with me. That pretty much says it.

No, no. It would be beeautiful!

Anyway, I would pick the Griptilian. I'm just rather disenchanted with liner locks at the moment. 440C doesn't give up that much to 154CM. I like G10 better than Zytel, but not more than I like Axis locks better than liner locks.

Which is why I need my first Axis lock!

Ive got a 710, well actually two of them. One in ATS-34 and one in M-2. I am looking for a beater. The AFCK II's are not that much more than the griptilians. I have kind of narrowed it down.

I'd take any AFCK over my Griptilian. I just find it kind of clunky (my opinion only) so it is in the gun safe. Now an AFCK with the axis lock...horse of a different color. We can only hope.

I suggest you get a beater 710 :), untill AFCK in axis comes out. Mine is. BM 710 HSSR AL. Well, AL was done by me, but I just love it... BTW even though the blade looks quite beat up, the aluminum handle looks perfectly ok, except 1 scratch, which I have no idea how did it get there... When my digicam gets back I post some pix...

Why. . .would anyone. . .go with cheap a$$ zytel for scales ?

Talk about excellent idea. . .poor execution ! At least they were smart and threw in a 440C blade. ;)

I like the "new" Grippy thing ~ without the hole. Would even be better if it had cf scales !

But hell. . .it's my opinion. . .and I may be wrong ! :D

Of course for the price of a 710 beater I could get another Wegner. ;)

I may be mistaken, but the Griptilian scales aren't zytel, they're Noryl GTX. I would chose the AFCK though, it's a better overall knife.

My friend seems a bit dissapointed with his Griptilian. Says the handle is too thick. I haven't handled one myself but I'd go for the AFCK II. Wait, I haven't handled one of those either. I do have a mini-AFCK though, and I like it a lot. I like the thin tip and the finger cutout in the handle.

Gotta go with the AFCK here. The Gripathing just seems sooo thick! That slim AFCK is extremely comfortable, blade shape is the ultimate general use shape, good handle material, easy carry, good clip, better steel. When the Axis AFCK comes out, now that will be cause for celebration!

Huh, there's your beater, right there.

Tough choice. I'm a fan of the AFCK, but if I recall (don't have one) the 550 has a stronger tip, and the Axis lock is a plus. I don't care for the handles-bulky, and the checkering was uncomfortable just handling one, much less using it.
AFCK has better ergonomics, M2 as an option...
Both cool knives, but very different, IMO.

Ok, here it comes:eek:
Personally, I'll take a fixed blade for a beater, every time. The 140HS or 145HS come immediately to mind, as does my new favorite work knife, the Strider MFS-TS (I love this thing).
If you need any more help spending your money....I'm eager to help:p

GigOne -- sounds to me like maybe BM took a page from Spyderco's book, and decided to provide a useful knife at a price point those with limited budgets might try/like. Makes a lot of sense to me. Might make a customer of me yet.

My personal AFCKs had handle flex that I hated. My Griptilian is more knife for the money as a beater. That is JUST my opinion!;)
