Affordable karambit?

I was just wondering; does anyone make an affordable karambit?

I'm looking for a FIXED BLADE design, the simple the better. I don't need crazy exotic handle materials or the best of the best steel.

I looked for a long time and couldn't come up with much. I'd prefer under $50, but let's say $100 just to keep the option open. Again, fixed blade karambit.

It seems the vast majority of designs are custom, and upwards of $200. A lot of the affordable production models are discontinued, or switched to folders.

United Cutlery offers an "Undercover Karambit" for an MSRP of 16.25, but that's probably lower-end than you wish to go.

Your request sounds like a dead ringer for Cold Steel Knives Fixed Bladed Karambit - the Steel Tiger.

Emerson makes a fixed-blade karambit that can be had for a little over $100 if you shop around.....that's the lowest price I can think of.

Cold Steel Double Agent I is an even cheaper karambit, made of the same steel (AUS 8A) albeit at 3" instead of the Tiger's 5".

The UC karambit is a little lower end than I am looking for. Although I wouldn't expect much in the sub-$20 range.

I forgot to mention, my state law is 4". I really don't mind a 3"-4" blade on a karambit, I think that' seems just about right for the style/shape of the knife.

Sharp Phil, I was looking at your review of the Derespina Model 10 and that is what sparked my interest. It looks simple but elegant, doesn't seem to have any fancy/exotic qualities which keeps it low key. It looks like everything I want, but now they are discontinued and probably way out of my price range.

I'm not against the Double Agent I & II from Cold Steel, but they do have the double ring design which I see as a different knife entirely. They are also quite thin which is good for concealment but not really to my preference.

I'm picky lol. I noticed A.G. Russell made a thread inquiring about karambits. Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll carry/design a few in the future! :)

I was actually going to recommend the Derespina Model 10 until I checked the website and saw they aren't in stock. It costs 325 to get one custom, if I remember correctly, which puts it out of your range.

I found a site called canadaknives.com that has a few really interesting karambits. Unfortunately, all of their photos/images are photoshopped to remove watermarks. This puts up a big flag for me, I don't feel like I can trust them if they can't even use their own images. They also include no maker information, just model names and steel names. They could be D2 steel, but there is no way to tell who made the knife or confirm descriptions.

So I had a little change in direction but I think it's close enough to keep me happy for now. I still plan to hold out for a good karambit, hopefully something higher end.

For now I'm probably getting a Ka-bar TDI plain edge. It shares some of the karambit qualities, while being affordable. The handles are cheapish, but it's good steel and has received many good reviews (keeping price in mind).

I plan to do some more knife reviews in the future and this will be one of them, once I get another camera. Some #@%!*# stole my good one after I mistakenly left it at a friend's house. Came back the next day and it was gone, along with my friend's wallet, keys, and cell phone. Pretty lame.
