Affordable oil for folder pivots and multi tool

This in my opinion is the best and wont fudge with your lock.
Rem oil with teflon..

I prefer a product called "Zero Friction" by pro shot products. 1 oz last me 6-9 months on both all of my knives and my handguns.

3-in-1 will actually allow rusting in the long run. I use mineral oil. Works great, dirt cheap and food safe :)

silicon oil is another option
It might be the best option if you're lubricating something with nylon washers, because some petroleum distillates can dissolve certain plastics and rubbers

Apparently my idea of affordable oil is different from others'. I use S&W advanced gun oil on my folders. I also use it when repairing typewriters.

One of the best cheap lubes in the world is ATF, but you REALLY don't want to get that stuff on your white shirt!

I use motorcycle fork oil, I don't recall the weight at the moment but it's a thin/light oil. One drop on the pivot from time to time, mostly on my slip joints.

I am a great proponent of Benchmade BlueLube. The stuff has an almost spooky ability to penetrate and yet it is viscous enough to provide great lubrication. I put half a drop on either side of my Police pivot and it ended up lubricating the entire lock-bar as well as the pivot!

I use a dab of bees wax lip balm on my CRK. Works great and smells good:thumbup: On knives I can't take apart, I use mineral oil.

Looking through all this and I dont think I have seen it mentioned, but I use TufGlide. Have a little bottle and it seems to have lasted quite a few years. Just one drop on each side the pivot and it holds up well enough.

I use Rem oil, too. I already have it for my guns, and it seems to work great (as well as be dirt cheap) for my knives. I wouldn't use it on a food prep blade, however.

I use Militec-1. A VERY small amount. Then heat it up per the instructions. It pretty much soaks into the pores of the metal. Looks dry but lubes great, and does not attract dirt, sand, etc.
