Hi all, I have for sale a couple small fixed blades, each with a kydex sheath. These are made by valencourt customs who is a relatively small scale knife maker. I'm asking $40 for the wood handled knife and $50 for the aluminum. I take paypal (+3%), paypal gift, and usps money order. Shipping is $5 for each knife, but its on me if you take both. Here is his description of the two knives-
The Aluminum handle knife is a model I dubbed the "Manhattan" for its legality in NYC. It has about a 2 1/8" cutting surface, about a 2.5" blade overall. Handle is 3.5", putting it at 6 inches overall.
It is made of O-1 tool steel, hardened to 60-61Rc, it has a hammer finish that fades out towards the back into a stainless pin, the front pin is a translucent red acrylic. It has some natural patina and scale left over. It is distal tapered, and quite sharp.
It is a right-handed chisel grind with a secondary flat bevel on the back which has been blended in, and then micro-beveled on a strop with a .5 micron paste.
Summary: 2.5" blade 3.5" handle Aluminum with black liners O-1, distal tapered and quite sharp (Shaving and will cut phone book paper, no problem) Comes with a neck carry kydex sheath with excellent retention, scales are rounded out and quite comfy.
The second knife in Quina wood, has 2.25" blade with about a 3.75" handle as well, putting it at right about 6 inches (Just shy, I think 5.9). It is made from the same materials as the above, O-1, 60-61, 1/16" stock. Quite sharp, and bitey. Hidden tang knife, tang goes back about 1/3 of the way. The blue acrylic pin is transparent and can be seen through, kinda neat, and helps me to keep the scales together when making the knives.
This guy is a tool through and through, a sharp beater knife. Shaves and cuts phonebook paper, perfection wasn't the aim on the knife, functionality was. So it isn't perfect, but it is a fantastic user, and looks nice, IMO. Kydex sheath set up for neck carry, I made sure the retention was very good for this style of knife.
Grind is a dual flat grind that goes about 1/3 the way up, and then blended up further into a convex. It has a fairly substantial convex secondary bevel with a small microbevel stropped to .5 micron, makes for a durable but sharp edge.
