affordable Ti Framelocks

Pretty sure BladeHQ has the TI Military for $200 right now

I would go for a ZT over an Alias. I owned both large/small, as well as a small blue anodized alias. All three had issues with blade play, and sticky lock once the knife wore in. The 1st alias I owned was sent to Benchmade and came back fixed but developed vertical blade play, sold it off. The 2nd Alias was a large, that one developed blade play (vertical) as well as a sticky lock. Sent it to benchmade, came back fixed free of both problems. The 3rd I owned was the Alias 2 in blue anodizing, kept it for a month and had to send it in 2 times. That's when I received a new one according the rep, he himself picked out the handles, spacers, and blade and tested a dozen or so until he got a perfect match. Was perfect out of the box I flipped it for $140 to a collector I knew. Dead center, super solid, smoothest alias I've owned and no sticky lock. Also sent me 3 different pocket clips. Satin, polished, and coated.

I'll second the Sage 2 suggestion, but a used Southard would be superb.
I have to say, my edc is a sage 2 and it's a solid performer. The leaf blade makes for a robust tip and provides lots of leverage in a variety of positions... push cut, pull cut, planing.

From my experience I'd absolutely suggest any Gen or variation of the ZT0550 OR you can usually find a pre owned (not necessarily used) ZT 0560 or 0561 for around that price point.

I can't recommend the southard. Wasn't my thing. I didn't like the ergos, action, finish, or blade shape. But its all personal preference - some people love 'em.

I'll add the new Boker Manaro Bullseye to the list. I just got one and am very impressed by the quality. All titanium conscruction, titanium pocket clip, titanium backspacer, and a sweet looking blade. For around $130

While the ZT0550 is a hell of a knife, it also weighs in at 6 oz. The Southard weighs in at 4.1 oz. The Bradley Alias also weighs in at 4.1 oz. I see a whole lot of blade lengths, weights, and blade shapes being thrown around here. Some of these knives shouldn't even be compared to one another. What exactly are you looking for? If you can specify blade length, weight and blade shape or maker, we will be able to help you make your decision.

i am getting a hinder it is half TI kersaw ZT series. TI is best used too reduce weight since some of its properties do not lend it self too knives, while it strong as steel and as light as aluminum as they say. it is also flex-able, as compared too steel.

this can be good if used in right place

the zt has a good blade and low weight and is big, if that is what you want. i think they run out soon i think it is only 2012 model until new ZT's come out soon this summer

i like those big wide spiders i might have check out one of those

thx for the ZT link i check it out added: http://thrumylens.org/featured/zero-tolerance-0550-update-generation-2/

GWEBB is right. I see the ZT0550 as the best bang for your buck for large, beefy ti framelocks. But if you want something lighter, smaller, less "beefy" look elsewhere than the 0550.

I'm a huge fan of the Sage 2. The ergonomics on the Sage series just can't be beat. The Chokwe is also nice, although the longer-thinner blade might make it less suitable for some types of jobs. But you can find it discounted at places like Sierra because it has been discontinued...
