Afgan Khukuri: Who wants one?

Now that the WWIIIs are about to ship, I'm ordering some of the "19th century khukuris" (I'm calling them Afghan Khukuris). I'd order about 5 to start with, and don't "need" any pre-order show-of-interest by name, but I don't want to order too few. So, please post here if you want one.

Don't send any money folks. If you want one and then change your mind, they'll sell out quickly anyway, so I don't need "assurance" pledges.

And my apologies for spelling Afghan as "Afgan" in the title of this thread!

For what it's worth, I'm interested too (I only have one khukuri in my private collection - the Hanuman that TB gave me as a gift, and this one will be number two).

NOTE: I do have some blems that I grab when I go to the field, but that doesn't count.

Only one? Craig, it's time to start treating yourself to some of the finer things in life. Keep a khukuri, or two, or three, or even a dozen for yourself. You of all people should know that while the various styles are all similar, they are by no means alike. Each has a spirit all its own, and having one khukuri seems just plain wrong.

Count me in for one of those, Craig.

Craig,

Almost forgot, could/would the Afghan Khurki be ordered without the handle material? If TB could be talked into that, then I have a wonderful piece of wood that I would like to put on one. Thanks

There used to be little towns on the Afgan Pakistan border,(they still do this, I think), where smiths made pretty good AK-47 copies.Charcoal forge;nothing first world. When they`d finish one, they`d rip off a full mag on full auto in the street to show what they did.
Now that would be an interesting collector`s item.
The other "stans" do it too.Is that not a testimonial to will?

FNG,

I've seen some examples of the Afgan/Pakistani small arms you speak of and they are, as you say, a true testimonial of will.

Considering what they had to work with, they do a remarkable job.

I've seen a documentary on that place somewhere. It was amazing. Like FNG said, the smiths made excellent AK copies, as well as a lot of other small arms. Scary though, I think that everybody in that town was packing. Had to, with blood feuds and all that they were always watching their backs.

Craig, can you make sure that this modern Afghan khukuri replicates the cho that was on the original? I liked it, as it is very different from the chos in your regular offerings.

Sure, based upon my experience with Gary Brewer's wood-prototype turned khukuri, I think they'll replicate perfectly this model.

And yes, my father-in-law speaks often of the northern pakistani arms makers (he's from Karachi).

I think I will pass on those homemade Ak's. From what I have heard, they arent too safe over the 'long" haul(2 or 3 magazines worth of ammo?) Afghan Khukuri sounds neat ,but just bought a decorated SIrupti today at the gun show and am tapped out for this month. But Next month? Why not?

Of course, I would have no official knowledge of this.
But,your first weapon only needs to be good enough to get your next.

Okay guys. As of today, they are officially on order. Delivery time to my office will be about 6 weeks (maybe sooner). Send no money. I'll post an "order button" here when they come in.
