Afgan Khukuri: Who wants one?

BTTT for Craig.
I still want one.

Haven't been participating here due to a motorcycle wreck which has me "hors de combat".

Shipment is in, but still at the airport (customs doesn't work weekends). I'm picking them all up on Monday, and then the fun begins.

I wish someone would let my bosses at U.S. Customs know that we "don't work weekends", it would give me a lot more time to relax.

Your broker or freight forwarder may not work weekends, but I can assure you that that's not the case for USCS. (Of course that doesn't mean that your particular merchandise will be cleared over the weekend if it isn't "perishable" etc.)

Offered simply for clarifications sake.

Blues: You are absolutely right. What I guess I meant to say was that those who process formal entries on non-perishable goods don't work weekends

Okay, guys. The Afghans are in. Not QUITE what I'd expected, but as always, a top notch khukuri (a 10 out of 10 for quality - as good as they get).

First, here are the pictures:

As you can see, the styling on the sheath didn't make it to the finished product. Also, the blade isn't QUITE as fat in the belly as the original model. However, having held one and done a little light chopping, I can say that this style offers something entirely different than our other khukuris. First, the forward weight seems to draw the blade down (as if more "gravity" were working on the blade than there really is). Second, the handle is VERY comfortable for a range of hand sizes (Marya with small hands tried it out and it was even comfortable for her).

Now, for the ordering part. If you are on the following list (see below), you have 72 hours to buy one using this link:

<a href="http://www.cystern.com/shopsite/sb/order.cgi?storeid=cysternc&dbname=products&itemnum=68&function=add">

</a>

Again, you have 72 hours. If, after 72 hours, anybody "passes" that's on the list, then I'll open it up for general purchase to forumites only. To signal the "start" of the race, I'll make them available on ANOTHER thread. So let's say this Thursday at 3:00pm the unclaimed ones are up for grabs. Here's the list:

Edd Harbin
Berkley
chris22
Mike L
RA Carignan
Steven F
Chris S.
Ivan
Pumpkin 40
Lt. Dan

Enjoy. They aren't visually what I had in mind, but functionally and quality-wise, they are perfect.

Yes, indeed! It won't be a 72-hr decision. I'm determined NOT to be the cow's tail this time, so let's make it official here and now. Many thanks, Craig; it'll go well with the little GH Balance.

Okay, I have a few left. Any takers? Specs (estimated): length: 18 inches. Weight, about 3 lbs. Handling characteristics: unbelievable! And these things are 100% made correctly.
