Well hear i am so nervous to finish a folder because i think it is my bets and i am afraid of screwing it up and making a mess.
This is my first design that i have completed and i am almost finished.
I just have to finish sanding blade and the pins need to be set.
I was just wondering if this is normal.:grumpy:

Go with sandpaper and do it manualy. Do not use grinder. It is slower, but much more true.
It is also a good meditation... form the grit #100 to the grit #2000...

I am sometimes nervous that I'll screw up a nice knife because I often get very attached to them during the process. I think that's normal.

Just try your best and show us how it turns out. If you accidentally screw something up, you will learn from it and the next one will be even better.

Knife making is supposed to be fun...So, don't let it get you stressed out.

If you are worried about messing it up, set it aside and work on some other projects and then come back to it with a clear head.

Good luck,
Brook

Is anything we do "normal"? Depends on who you ask, I guess :)

Anyway, I second Dmitry's advice. The closer I get to finishing a project, the longer it takes :o

Well i have sanded to 400.
The scales are so good i hate to set the pins or do anything at this point but i will post pic after i finish i am just excited on how it looks.

What they said.... I just finished my first slipjoint and I started it last spring! I kept screwing up the springs and had to set it aside for awhile. I can relate. I have a lot of half finished projects lying around and I know at least some of them are because I'm nervous about the next step....
Go for it though. It will feel great to carry a piece that you've made in your pocket on a daily basis. Thats not something many of us fixed blade makers get to do.
Good luck, and most importantly,
HAVE FUN

The little tap tap's are scaring the h *** out of me and i have never been afraid of trying new things but i know i have to go fore it just fore self pride.

Man i hear you i will try tomorrow fore sure it should be warmer in garage and i wont to be careful.

Hey good luck and I am sure it will turn out fine. Make sure and post the finished knife.

The courage to do something comes after you do it.

The wisdom to do something without screwing it up comes after you screw it up.
