A "Ripper"

The blade is a Russell Harrington Green River. Forged carbon. I put a hand rubbed finish on it. 1/16" thick stock,is a slicer, takes a wicked razor edge effortlessly. The wood is African Blackwood. This stuff you need to see it in hand. Wet,its grippy as it gets. Just fantastic wood for knife handles, imo. I cut this from blocks. Its nicely rounded,it has a 600+ grit finish 1/8" nickel pins are peened prior to finishing,to expand the heads for holding power. My handles are not coming off.
The sheath,I had a pro leather guy make,Ray from Wild Boar BladesTooled heavy leather ,stained dark to go with these 1800's period blades. This knife will go in this sheath either way, right or left side carry. The belt loop is flat so it'll work for "in pocket" carry too. Or in your boot maybe, lol I dunno.
8.25" OAL with 4" of cutting edge

Awesome set up for $95. shipped Con U.S.

Thanks!

Do you also glue the handles of the Ripper?

Yes sir. I "scarify" the flats of the blade blank underneath where the handle will be,with a 50 grit belt, this makes for a good "bite" or,"tooth" as I'll call it. The scales themselves, the pin holes are tapered. I do this by hand with a precision reamer. So after they are peened,if you could see a cross section, you'll probably have like an hour glass shape, basaically. The glue... Devcon 2 part,2 ton clear epoxy ,not a quick cure & I usually let the knife set up for a full day. This is what I do for all models .
I have had to redo two handles because of mistakes. Believe me when I tell you,if you use this knife as intended,a knife, the handle is not coming off.

Thanx, what kind of steel and hardness?

The steel on the Green Rivers is forged 1095 carbon. Rc ,my guess would be 58 -59 These patterns are in thier catalogue circa 1800's
