Hello,
I am working on a kitchen knife, and I plan to put African Black Wood handles on it. I was wondering if African Black Wood is safe to work with, (It seems to be from my research, but I just want to make sure.) and what you guys use to finish it. I would like it to have a finish, not just its natural oils, because its a kitchen knife so it will be exposed to water a lot. Thanks.

blackwood is very oily, the only thing that hold up at all is ca and in a kitchen environment it may not work. I use it on field knives and straight razors. I don't know of any other options that would stick well.varnish and oil wont stay.

Thanks Kn4wd. I don't think that I will finish it, just sand and buff and might throw some bees or renaissance wax on it.
