After 4th of July sales for 7/5 -- Pix and big savings

Lot's of Thamar work showing up in the DOTD threads these days but it's getting snapped up as fast as it's posted. Looks like there are lots of people who appreciate his work. Speaking of which, I received my Thamar Dui Chirra yesterday and am I impressed with it. This is only my second Kukri so I don't have near the experience as most of the others here but my first was a Chainpure Kukri with carved wooden sheath that I picked up in another DOTD. From what I understand I don't believe the Chainpure was actually made at the H.I. shop, especially since it lacks the U.B. and Kami mark in the blade. Not to take anything away from the Chainpure since it is a great knife, beautiful to look at, and an impressive chopper but the DC is definitely a step up in quality.

I didn't have a chance to do any cutting or chopping last night but hopefully I'll have a chance to see what this blade can do this weekend.

Interesting bit of information on Thamar. I always took for granted it was pronounced with the "TH" together creating Thay Mar.

Auntie was speaking and kept saying TaMar, basically dropping the H. At first due to my poor hearing I thought we were talking about two different kami's. But alas I just took for granted wrong....The knife I was holding was clearly Thamar but pronounced Tamar.

This concludes our lesson on everything bawanna knows up till today. So far anyhow.

He's one of my favorites among many of course. I love traditional angles and smallish handles.

Anil show tremendous promise. I have a couple of his knives and they are top notch.

My favorite kukri is also a Thamar. I have a Yek Chirra, and for a while it vied with my Purna Chainpuri for the status of my favorite, but it has sealed its place as my favorite kukri, for now at least.

And Bawanna, I guess my guessed pronunciation was correct. I've been saying it as 'TaMar' since I first saw it. I just guessed because the TH of English is not found in most languages, as least those I'm aware of. Thanks for the confirmation.

I don't get out much and never left the country, well I did go to Canada once when I was young and restless and an adventurer. Those days are gone.

I'll make note of the lack of TH in most languages. And to think I weren't gonna lern nothing today.

All this talk a bout Thamar's quality is killing me!!! I have waited for a long while to get a fullered, curved gripped 18" khukuri at 24oz. My two other prize's are a 15" Bura AK and 18" Tin Chirra by Tirtha at 34oz. My hope is that this size/weight/grip combo will feel very lively but still hit hard....Monday can't come soon enough :)

If you got the DD on 7/5 and you live in the US, which it looks like you do, then I wouldn't be surprised if it came tomorrow or Saturday.

I'm in Springfield, MO...crossing my fingers

I just scooped up the CAK villager. It's in its way along with two AK15's, one wood and one horn... I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas morning...

Traildamage: welcome to the nut farm! Bawanna warning stands! Mr. Tall is in fact the tribal pundit! Theres a few more you gotta find out on your own:D Take you shoes off and stay a while. Uhhh. and them dolls are for real man! Tell Bookie how much you like his monkey tools and youll be ok;)

I might add! You guys are missing out on a very very rare occurrence! The CAK with forge scale still intact. They almost never happen. I have one made by Kumar and it is sweet. I bought it several years ago and to my knowledge this one is the only one I have seen up for grabs since then. You like KLVUK? You will like this VCAK! They are bad to the bone! Some one will be happy to own this one. Lachhu makes great AK's and his fullers are second to none!

ah...looks like I missed out. Mo Jenkins grats to you on a fine blade sir! You should be very happy:thumbup:

I noticed that too ndog! That villager CAK with the forge scale is not something you see every day. Yours is a nice once. I have a KLVUKAK that I got from Mr. Tall but it has the stick tang.

I don't mean to change the topic but I was just wondering how long shipping usually takes? I ordered a blem BAS that was shipped last tuesday, and it's still not here. I'm not in a hurry, I just wasn't sure how long I should wait before I get worried or contact Auntie? I'm really excited, it will be my first chopping sized kukri, albeit on the smaller side of the spectrum!:)

If you are CONUS, should take 2 - 3 days. I would contact auntie and ask to track the package, and see if it got from point A to Point B, and if it did, maybe it was stolen after delivery?! It is a possibility, been happening lately.

Alright, I can certainly try that. I'm in arkansas, so I knew it shouldn't take long, but I figured I'd wait a week to be safe. I'll contact her and see then. [emoji106]
