After work on Saturday, I'm heading out to the Frederick Knife Show, in Frederick MD. After the show, I'd like to go hiking near Harpers Ferry, but it's too far. So, any trails close to Frederick. A trail was mentioned a couple days ago in the WSS, local to Frederick, but I lost the bookmark for it. I've got a case of the fatness ;), so a long distance hike is NOT in the cards. Scenery and a good workout are fine though. Maybe about 3 miles, but no more than 3. Not looking for camping etc, just a good walkabout. Thanks, have a good one.

Cunningham Falls State Park and Catoctin Mountain Park are in Thurmont, not far from Frederick. The loop trail around Catoctin is about ten miles total, but can easily be cut down into smaller hikes. There's lots of overlooks, and a big pile of rocks to climb on. I'd rate most of it as easy.

The show in Frederick is usually in April, I didn't get to make it out because I only had a loaner at the time. The show is put on by the Mason Dixon Knife Club, out of State Line PA.
