Aftermarket endura handles?

I got a new endura and when i started playing around with it I was a little bit dissapointed. Not with the blade, but the handle. The steel liners are somewhat thin, if i squeeze he handle i can see them flex more than id like. I guess they are trying to make a light weight knife? The only other complaint I had was that around the pivot hole in the blade, there isnt as much steel as i would have expected. It was rather narrow comparred to my benchmade griptillian. Im not referring to the thickness of the blade.
When I bought my girlfriend a caly thats when i saw the real difference. The handle on the caly is much more solid and strong with full length liners.

I was wondering if anyone makes aftermarket handles for the endura, maybe micarta, something stronger than the black plastic. I had the ability to make my own handles (new steel liners would be hard...) but not so much free time. Ive seen enduras with modified handles and i think they look great.
Anyone make aftermarket ones for sale?

AFAIK those are all custom jobs. Try STR on this forum. He does a lot of very nice work with Spydercos and other brands.

You might also be interested in knowing that Spyderco had prototypes of G-10 Enduras & Delicas at Blade this year. I have no info on how far out they are, though.

Hey all,
The Endura's handles will last you a lifetime, they really are tough stuff. Some guys have been carrying the old Gen1 Endura's for 10+ years (those were without the liners, PB washers and adjustable pivots). If you could break the handles on the E4 not using it as a pry bar, I'd be very surprised.
Cheers,
Rob

What about the amount of metal around the pivot hole in the blade? Did anyone else think this was rather little bit for a heavier duty knife?

I think I have seen STR's work, and i think thats what inspired me.
Im currently trying to figure out how to make coconut micarta to see if I cant add my own touch.
Im not really that worried about the handle failing, I just like something with a little more sturdy feel. My griptillian has thicker liners, and i like that.

I don't know if the endura is really a "hevy duty" folder. I doubt that the handle would break, but I agree that FRN handle flexing is a bit annoying, but they are ok for most things.

Get something with g-10 and there won't be any flex issues.

Isn't word from the grapevine/Blade Show that there'll be G-10 handled Enduras and Delicas soon?

Yeah, that's what i heard, but depending on the price, you can probably get a more exotic one that the endura.

Don't worry, those "cheap" FRN handles will last you a lifetime. You'll break tha blade several times before the handles ;)
However, if you want a neat custom work, STR is the man.
