AG caper

Kyhunt, I know what you mean about cleaning up a folder after field dressing a deer. They are a pain unless your camp is set up w/ running hot and cold water like Pack rat.
You'd have to know whats common in TX.. I've found drop points and trailing points work better. But if careful a clip can do it. Have a good hunt. DM

I have to vote with Larry on this one.:thumbup:I have tryied the drop points on deer also and found that I.. like the more pointed 110,and other number :eek:Bucks for doing the deer thing. But thats just me.

Heck, this is all part of the mystery of the hunt. Developing your own trappins'. Rudderjt will back me up on this, the real mountain men didn't cotton to anyone foolin with or funnin their trappins'. Each thing was there because it served well or it was traded away for something better. Same on these game knives. Ten guys ten different 'trappins'. When 'afield' I carry my lucky swiss army knife, with saw, tweezers, screwdriver on my belt just in case some young blond lass with beer steins is tangled up in some hay twine or some such. In my possibles bag (Pack) are a 112, two 118s and a 103. (A new Vanguard will be in it this fall, replacing the 103). My buddy guts his elk with a 303 and does the rest with a cermaic bladed something or other. I usually have to pull a few strokes on a sharpening rod in the middle of things ,not him. All this is just to get it in manageable portions. It takes a long blade to cut steaks when back home. Different critter different knife, thats why we have to have more than just two or three, you can't skin a squirrel (313) with a 119. Well, you could but I would rather be punished in some other way. We drive different cars and we cut with different style blades. Most all mine say Buck someplace on it. If yours do too, then I will quickly know you aren't a man to have your 'trappins' fooled with.........300Bucks

I'm not knocking what anyone uses. I was just asking about the new AG Caper. I also like using the 110 but was just stating I think its a pain to clean in the field several miles from running water. The truth is the 110 is on my side everyday except Sunday.

What do you carry on Sunday ? I always have a knife and all the ladies know it, it has cut many a errant thread from a female garment, sometimes I even get to nip it off the hem of the dress myself with some nice looking legs sticking out, remeber the scout moto "Be Prepared"........just my own opinion, you know there like rear ends everybodys got one, the big guy was a carpenter and knew a good blade so I think its alright....back on track I like the looks of the Alaska Guide caper in the Cabelas Christmas catalog. I think better than the old 106...just my rear end opinion. 300Bucks

I'm going to get shot here. Usually Sunday is a Case 18 stockman or an Eye Brand stag minitrapper. Just havent got myself to preach wearing the 110 yet. I have an old Buck stockman but its retired . I have a Colt that I got for my 21st B-day but retired it about 2 years ago. It was a gift from my mom and step-dad. I decided after he past away a few years ago to put it up with the schrade that he carried. That AG caper has caught my eye though. I dont need another knife but it sure looks nice. I think it would be a nice little blade to work with.

One of the things i carry is a popsicle stick cut in half,it is used to clean the 110 out after feild dressing, and works really good until i can get back and give it a thorough cleaning.

I don't see why this was brought forward as he's not using the Buck Caper talked about in the original post. DM

Razor, Thats a good idea. Does anyone have pictures of the Alaskan Guide Caper the original poster was talking about? Or was he talking about the 110AG? OK, found it and it looks like the Mentor. I guess you can call anything a caper. Heck, I use a 110 clip and the drop point for field dressing. DM
