Someone on the other forum posted this and I thought I should pass it along.

Blade will be brushed steel for now with more finishes possible in the future.

Suggested retail is $39.99, model number is 2020

Blade length is 3.197”

Blade thickness is 0.137”

Steel is 1050, HRC 54-55

Knife overall length is 6.85”

Weight is 3.9 oz.

Sheath material is Codura/Zytel

They'll probably go for about 30bux or less online so I plan on getting two, one to carry for those walks in the interesting part of town and one to keep at home as a back up.

Looks like this knife is going to be made available by CRKT. It will be the Sting 1A, which is the all steel version if I am not mistaken. It seems that the blade is going to have a powder coat.

One more reason to appreciate CRKT. They are innovative, they are responsive to their customers, they collaborate with a variety of custom makers, and if they look to the low end of the market, they certainly haven't deserted real knife knuts either.

And since they're coming out with a Sting, I'll keep saying nice things about them! :D

Me too!
At 40 bucks, I think they'll go quickly.

I wish I had a vintage one already, so they could live together... :(

Peace.

I wonder why 1050, instead of something like 1095, which is better, but still cheap, available, and of good quality.

What the Fu$K is up with that "Samurai Steel" crap?

"The Sting™ begins life as an ordinary blank of 1050 carbon steel, similar to the alloy used in traditional Samurai swords, which is first hot forged and then precision ground into final shape." :jerkit:

The last time I looked, my Muramasa didn't have 1050 stamped on the side of it...

Cool, not sure what I'm going to do with it, but I want one.

CRKT has done a great job bringing stuff to market.

I like how they start off with "Original design and pricing with modern steel" and then go on to say "The Sting™ begins life as an ordinary blank of 1050 carbon steel, similar to the alloy used in traditional Samurai swords". Well... is it modern steel or steel similar to those used in traditional Samurai swords?

I like the design of the sting so I am sure to get one. I do see an aftermarket kydex sheath in store for mine though.
