AG Russell 1-hand knife... isn't

Like Tim, I bought one of the very first ones, (in 1985 I believe). I agree that at first "One Hand" seemed like a misnomer. It does take some getting used to opening one handed but it's fairly easy with practice but it DOES take some getting used to.

I loved that knife and at the time I did a lot of shark fishing because I lived right on the San Francisco Bay. That thing cleaned a lot of shark. The AUS-8 blade took a razor edge but didn't hold it very long as is characteristic of 8A but would still clean my night's catch. It also took a lot of abuse from dropping on the rocks and such but was easy to buff out when it got too scratched up.

What I really like about A.G.'s "One Hand models is their slim profile. I recently aquired a small version and to me it is one of the best gent's pocket knives around. Hardly know it's in your pocket until you need it.

IMHO, I can't understand why anyone would want scales on these things, (the same goes for CR Sebenzas). To me it destroys what these knives are all about which as I mentioned is their slim, unobtrusive profile. Before anybody flames me, I understand that we're all different and to each their own. :) I just think that slim, all stainless folders have their place and A.G.'s "one Hand" models are some of the best. And this from a guy that loves stag and owns as many stag knives as Phil. ;)
