AG Russell Cowboy

Would anyone be so kind as to post a vid of your Rancher and/or Cowboy (or both)?

flash900 is there anything in particular that you would like to see that you can't see in the stills?

The stills do not show the Rancher in use.

All of my folders have locking mechanisms and I'm having a hard time trying to figure out why I'd want one that doesn't lock, particularly a hard-use folder. Perhaps a video would help those who have no experience with slipjoints. Thanks.

A little OT...

Someone mentioned that they like the blade shape of this blade better than a Case Sodbuster. At least as far as the steel goes, I am not really able to discern a difference in shape. Does anyone have a side by side pic of a Case Sodbuster and either the Rancher or Cowboy?

Here you go. Both the black Rucarta and yellow Delrin models (Cowboy), compared to large stainless Case Sodbuster (2138 SS), and large yellow Sodbuster (3138 CV):

You may notice, the handles of the Case knives are longer, but the blades of the AGR Cowboy are both longer and wider. AG really packed a lot of blade into these.

Edited to add:
Here's a pic to illustrate differences in handle thickness (left to right: Case 3138 CV, AGR yellow Delrin Cowboy, Case 2138 SS, AGR black Rucarta Cowboy):

That's a taller order than I was thinking. I suggest that you start a separate thread about the non-locking nature of slipjoints and where they will stand up to hard use. They will, but that is different question.

To be honest, the best way you'll be able figure out whether such a knife would work for you is to try one yourself. If the Cowboy and Rancher interest you it wouldn't break the bank to try either one and have the first hand experience.

Plus with A.G. Russell's warrantee....if you don't like it (For any reason) you can simply return it and get a refund.

Just purchased this knife last night in the ebony Finnish can't wait to get it, My old case sodbuster is my everyday Cary knife and I'm looking to replace it with the Cowboy ,the wider better looking blade shape sold me on it.

I thought you had the first one ever made since you hounded AG to make it:D. You need another now?

Thanks for the comparison photos. I've been hemming and hawing over the AGRs for a bit now and I think your pics may have pushed me over the edge. But the timing couldn't have been any worse.....what with the new run of Charlows etc the wallet is getting a bit of a hammering. But do like my Sodbuster Jr and Bull Nose very much so I'm sure I see an AGR Rancher in my very near future.
