Just ordered one of these in red coral rucarta and was curious if you folks have an opinion on this knife? Thanks

Is that the smaller one? I know they have the rancher also, I
always get them mixed up... I have the smaller one in
ebony rucarta. I really like it. Great knife for the $, great
knife period.

Are these the knives you're talking about (pics always make a difference to a thread)?

You will love it!
A Red Cowboy is in my rotation.

It will be my only knife as I have just lost my endura. I did some repairs on my semi truck and I forgot to get it off the catwalk before I took off. Now it's some where between Denver and Omaha on I-76 or I-80......

You might be missing that Spyder Hole, Ron.
But, the Cowboy is a true working knife.

My yellow Cowboy (delrin) is in my back pocket today. In the delrin, the profile is slimmer than with the Rucarta models; I also have it in black 'Ebony' Rucarta, BTW (see comparison pics below, of the larger Cowboy and smaller Rancher models). These are great knives at a great price. The Cowboy & Rancher are slipjoints, but I keep noticing they 'snap' open much like a lockback, and I keep instintively feeling for the lock-release bar to close them; that impresses me, and I've not had the same impression from any other slipjoint knife. The steel (8Cr13MoV @ 57-58 HRC) sharpens up easily, to impressive & fine edges.

Another plus: The blade is HUGE, when considering the size of the handle into which it fits.

I had a smaller one in black, I was really impressed by the fit and finish on it, no gaps anywhere, perfect walk and talk. It doesn't need the shield, but that is a matter of taste.

They made some with wood handles? I thought they were all delrin and Rucarta.

On sale for just a bit more than the regular priced black Rucarta, if you get the A. G. Russell Customer Appreciation catalogue.

I have the larger black "Cowboy" and it truly is a great knife for the money. I think the steel shield is a great added touch to these.

I think when you buy something from AGR, you get put on their mailing list. I get the catalog and an email.
