I completely forgot about the trekker! the scalloped edges on victorinox knives are better IMO for cutting rope that isn't under strain than a serrated (read:spyderedge) blade.

Pete, they sure are. Which is why I like the idiot tiny serrations on Cold Steel knives also. They look like hell but they don't bind in any medium I've tried them on.
 
I might look into a trekker to try out the serration location. and I am a huge fan of the scalloped edge over serrations.

we use the vic paring knives with the scalloped edges a lot around here on the commercial fishing boats, they make great bait knives, and the diver who cuts rope from boat propellers takes several down with him, they're cheap, wicked sharp, and light. and if you lose it, you didn't break the bank, and they are easy to find around town.
