I have followed the threads on many a Blade Mark, and I agree with the thoughts on incorporating your name into the logo. What do you do when you have a long name "Daniel Somerville" how can you place all that on a blade. I am not to this point yet, but I would like to be, and I cannot imagine how you would do something like it. Again I am not asking for designs, just any ideas.
Thanks
:)

Just a simple " D Somerville" would be good you have a unique last name so it will be recognized easily! Just my 2 cents....

If someone saw one of your blades, liked it and wanted to get in touch with you, could they do it from your mark?

Thanks for the input, I was under the mistaken assumption that if you went to small on a logo that it would not be clear. I will give it a try with the full name and see what I get. Thanks again.

FWIW, I mark about 95% of my blades :

Stacy E. Apelt
Norfolk, Va.

Some marks are only .50" long, but readable.

I'm curious as to how many people have ever had business, (and what percent of that business exactly) has come directly from the maker's mark on one of your knives. 1 in 1000 blades? More? Less?

In other words, how many people have found your name and/or location on one of your knives and called you up and ordered another? 1% of your sales? 10% of your sales? 1/10% of your sales?

The point is, I think it's largely a myth that people commission new blades by contacting a maker off of the mark on their knife. Now, I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but rather, that it is unusual when it does.
