Which "Ivorite"? The old resin based stuff that Westinghouse produced in colors that wasn't paper based (basically bakelite), wasn't chippy at all, I've got some blue stuff on a knife I've carried for years, that I've dropped 100 times. It dents and deflects much like paper micarta, and didn't chip out when sawing. Of course, we all know how brittle *some* bakelite and other vintage non-reinforced phenolics can be, but hell, so can the reinforced ones. I've seen tons of sub-premium grade paper and linen phenolics ("micrtas" from import or less quality sources) of various vintages (new or old) that chip out heavily also, especially when sawing, although the reinforced stuff tends to have smaller chips, and less likely to chipout when dropped.
Kentucky; if you're looking for the real vintage ivory paper micarta that's yellow on the outside and cream on the inside, there are no current sources that I'm aware of, except here or there where someone is selling a stash.
