So how are these holding up?
Anyone have any issues?

My sheath is poorly constructed. I sent a message to SOG and they have been hearing about it and are working on a fix and offered to replace my sheath with a current or a better one when they come up with it. The knife however is great!

My baby clearly says Taiwan...

She is holding up great, helped in the Processing of a Mule Deer this past season. Food prep as well.

I should like to try their Agency and a Taiwan blade. I first bought the Tsunami wanting to try what I considered an unradical Tanto. I was not impressed at it being of Japanese origin as I had still alot of learning to do. I have the Pentagon as well in Seki and have grown to appreciate the attributes of Seki and the usefullness of both knives. I have also made seperate sheaths for both to suit my daily carry needs.

Its funny, I have no problem having Seki on the blade.......
They put out some of the worlds finest knifes.......

Just can't warm up to Taiwan or China made blades........

Not yet anyway....

I would say give the Taiwan blades a try. They are of very high quality and actually I think they are just as good as most of the Japanese fixed blades. I will however say that the Japanese folding knives are of much better quality than the Taiwan ones. Just my two cents.

Thanks, will have to try one out.
Did have a BM Snody Juju (Made there) but it was just for the collection
and not a user. Am sure they are fine, its just taking the plunge.....
Added, I am becoming a bit of a steel snob lately.
Hard not to with all the M4/ZDP189 & S90v around lately.....

Thanks again!

Any more news on a different Sheath?

Got a TiNi coated agency a while back. Sleek look with the coating. Blade is razor sharp, good reach, lightweight and fast. Like my super bowie and tech better though, thicker stock, more capable all-around. Just my preference.

Mine came in today, Beautiful knife, well made and balanced.

I have worked the Super Bowie and the Tigershark pretty hard and put them through some pretty rough tasks, and have been working with the new SEAL Pup and so far they have all held up very well. After years of carrying my old SG-1 and using a SEAL 2000 for a few months I was at first a little nervous about working them as hard because the AUS8 does feel a little bit lighter than the SK5 but I have to say that so far I am very impressed. And I can see where them being lighter can be nice on longer journeys through the bush.

Well...haven't yet had the oportunity to get it out in the bush any yet, but I have worked with it in the kitchen some. So far I love this knife.

And it even fits in the modular "survival" drop sheath system I cobbled together

One of the first attributes of any knife I choose is "can I use it for daily use as an EDC?". I want it to cut a loaf of bread and work in the kitchen to prepare food. I travelled alot uptill last year and as a group of people preparing food in a kitchen there were never enough knives and rarely any of worth. Travel also meant that a blade has to perform in other areas in the velt or clearing a path in over grown Nigeria. I have a few Customs that are in forged Carbon and work well in the kitchen and the bush, however in moist, dirty climates required constant cleaning and waxing.

I have always loved carbon steel...but with the really high humidity of this area..the older I get the more value I find in stainless steels. Luckily the steels are getting better also.
