ahh,the simple boyhood treasures (such as slingshots)

I well remember teaching my best friend to use a sling. We went up to a vacant lot in the foothills with nothing around but a 3 foot high retaining wall. I gave him all the tips, showed him how it was done, then I got behind the wall while he wound up. The first stone went over his left shoulder and zip over my head hiding behind the wall. It was several minutes before he got the rocks to land anywhere in front of him. A little while later the rocks were whizing down the hill and he was begging me to make him a sling.

We used to collect lost golf balls from around the local golf course. We'd take them up to the edge of the arroyo where the course was located and lob them about 150-200 yards off the cliff over to the course. This was the most fun if you lobbed a few onto the green about the time some golfers were teeing off.
