Ahhh Japan

Unfortunately in many cases perception of the truth is much more important than the truth itself.

If yall like that one, here's one youre going to love. This is from one of our english textbooks for 8th graders. (kids)

well, it could be that english isnt your first language, but there is a point.
My problem with this lesson is the fact that they leave out the entire history of planet earth leading up to that moment in time.
"There we were, just running about chasing butterflies, which is what we love to do best, when suddenly, for no apparent reason, an anonymous A-bomb "fell" on Hiroshima. Oh how we suffered!"

A how would one deduce that English wasn't my first language?

Thanks for the clarification, but if the lullaby is not taught in history class, then it's just that, a lullaby about children getting nuked.

Eh... *yawn, stretch*

They're just jealous.

*&$@#$%^&!?? ....... ..... ... .... .. .... to quote Andy (naw, I can't leave it There)

But Danny,

You have told us of some pretty peculiar, to our way of thinking, things about Japan. Something about them selling school girls' panties? Openly? Elementary school kids paying grab-ass with teachers?

The apparently Mafia / Yakuza run corporations and particuarly the movie industry?

Would you care to comment on some of the things you have seen "up close and personal?"

Danny, give it up dude, there are ignorant assholes all over the world. Some will change with education, some are so bitter and twisted that they will never change. When the 1945 gen are dead and buried (next 20 or so years) the place will have a better chance. Sattelite TV, Internet and more International travel has made a much more receptive group of people. I get on better with the gen of WWII than I do the guys in their late 50's, these are some misguided souls. Its probably due to working all your life from early morning to night and never being the captain of your own ship. Sooner or later resentment has to rear its head and they cant blame themselves, how about those nasty bomb dropping Americans?. Most here probably dont know that the kids in school get no modern history lessons, they just deny it either happened, was their fault or they lost fair and square, its always someone elses fault.

What made me smirk about the athletes was that if you ever saw kids (little league I guess I'm not too familiar with the terminology) they run training in a way that would make the Grossdeutchland shock troops blush.
Dont let it bother you, there are plenty of decent people here too. Get away from the cities and its a whole new world.

up close and personal?
The thing im really unhappy with now is not the fact that a teacher got angry and headbutted a 12 year old in class.
It's the fact that there is no hotline for me to call.
It's the fact that nobody cares. (as far as i can tell)

Sexual stuff is no big deal. (excpet when it concerns me or any other foreigner)
Selling your body is like a summer job that nobody talks about.
There are many laws and rules that define what can and cannot happen, officially, but the system requires more than this.
So, there is an invisible country that exists alongside the visible country.
You can only imagine how well that works with Americans like me here.
I wasnt brought up to ignore that which is not good.
You know that "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" ??
Im pretty sure that started in Japan.
You see it in traditional art all the time here...

Hey Danny is living in Japan getting to you? I know you were pretty down the other day over the loss of your friend and the violence in the classroom. Listen man dont stay in Japan too long, whatever you do in Japan wont mean anything once you get back in terms of a resume. In the mean time you will always be a gaijin to them and no matter what they say to your face you will always be inferior in their estimation.

Hey Temper do you remember me? I was talking to you about fishing awhile back? I figured out what they were doing by yanking on the rod that way. Snagging. How is your new place? Are you doing alot of fishing?

HTT, shh you are gonna jinx it, I might have another place lined up, the last one fell through.

Danny, 10 deep breaths and a Sapporo dude ;)

Temper ok shut seems to be the advice I get all the time. I will pray to the kami of new places for you though.

Danny why not try Kirin Lager instead of Sapporo

Kirin is only for beasts! Its made from real Giraffe's! :D

Danny, serious now. If it bothers you that much, leave if you can (financial) I have heard many a story from my wife who is a member on a forum that is made up exclusively of local girls that have married the blue eyed satan, that their husbands go nuts. I have the odd flip out myself, although fortunately I work for myself and I tend to avoid people as much as I can. If you have to deal with people you really cant stand being around, then just go. Its not worth the hassle.

Can he just resign and leave, or does he have to chop off his little finger first? :D

Truly, I post these things from time to time to let the outside world see what real life in Japan is like. The Japanese propoganda ministry is well funded and very busy.
It doesnt bother me that much cause I teach their kids and I take every opportunity to educate them about us foreigners and our evil ways...

Anyway, Im in Japan for budo and that's more important than anything else...
(except for my family)

Avoid people huh?
I understand.

Kirin is for infidels! May the fleas of a thousand Giraffe infest your groinal areas!

Finger chopping is optional, but it does offer an interesting insight into the subserviant mentality.

I quit drinking actually but Sapporo was my local beer choice.
