Life is good-just got my black wrap DB today (Thanks TAD!) and have a WB incoming from badassknives...anyone else notice that nice "new" strider smell? Kinda like a mixture of military canvas, a$$ sweat and ????
Any idea what that smell is?
I dig it (then again, i LIKE the smell of break free and hoppes #9)!
cheers,
Derek

Derek,

Congrats! I was about to get the DB. My WB is one day old and has that very "new smell" that you're talking about. Smells almost like a combo of machine oil, mil-fabric, honing oil, and c-130. It smells very tough, very industrial. Being an architect, I deal with a lot of metals. Some freshly extruded and conditioned I-beams smell similar.

My new EB-T from badassknives reminds me of a circular saw - oil, a little ozone from the electrical arc and sawdust. I swear it smells like sawdust. Maybe Mike tried it on a tree before he shipped it;)

Couple of us were talking about it early, thinking of making a cologne, Strider Scent, High Speed Lady attractor for the Hardcore Individual. :D

Somethings just smell good, Hoppes #9, spent powder, and Strider knives.

Just so you know gang ... that's pure, toxic, U.S. Government Mildew and Rot Treatment!
Something we just can't seem to give up!
Glad you like it.

I guess that's why it smells like military canvas....i'd assume it's been treated also.
I like the smell, but don't know if I'd like to smell like it! is that what is next? An ergonomic handled strider that will not get scratched from the sheath and smells like polo!
I'll take the current sriders thank you! I like my knives with caracter marks.
cheers,
Derek

That smell reminds me of the way my Dad used to smell when he came home from work at the machine shop, all covered in oil. A cross between that and the old tent that we'd pull down out of the atic before heading out into the woods. Beautiful, but not exactly Chanel #5.
