No, but Quiet Storm pointed you in the right direction. Look in the exchange forums.

I own 27 spydies and 3 byrds so far, the byrds are my heavy work knives and are used much harder than any of my spydercos. My pelican was used to cut everything from cardboard, paper, binding straps, rope, coard, cable, wood, shrink wrap (for boats), and heavy plastic. It ate through all the above listed materials with ease. IMO for the $13 i spent on it, it has served me better as a work knife then most other production knives ive used. So on that note i would say not to sell byrd knives short because of their chinese roots. Look into a Cara Cara for a good all around work knife.

i think the Delica 4 is a great choice, and it will certainly help you decide if you will get more. the delica is a real champ at giving you top quality materials in a low budget platform. My first one was purchased on sale for $30 and since then i have bought 2 more. I gave that first one away to a friend, and my father EDC's one of the other 2 often. Both of them are very pleased with the performance they have gotten from theese small folders.

Hi Korbiaka,

Welcome to the Spyderco forum. Hope you enjoy your time here.

The Delica4 is a good choice. Let us know what you think.

The dragonfly is a knife you will carry even if you buy a bigger knife later. It is my favorite. I've had one in my pocket everyday for three years.

Bang for the buck, I'd recommend the D'Allara Drop Point against anything out there. (There ARE better knives, but not at that price, and they aren't THAT much better, in my experience.)

The D'Allara has joined the Griptillian as my "so you're ready for something better than a Kabar Dozier or CRKT" recommendation for folks who aren't ready to shell out for a Manix or equivalent yet.

Of course, I haven't played with a 4th generation Delica or Endura yet. My mid-price recommendation list might be in for some serious expansion. :p

If your Wally-Wonkus doesn't carry the Native, you can always go to Wally-Wonkus dot com and get one. I just went to my local WM today and got one, and they say the Native sells out faster than all their other knives these days. Can't say I'm at all surprised, though; all the other knives in the case had nothing on the Natives. It's one helluva knife for the price! if that's not your cup-o-tea, then the Endura in any of its incarnations is another great blade for the money.

Wow, didn't expect this to pop back up but I guess I should have posted my progress. Well I took everyones advice into consideration and ordered a gen 4 Delica. About 6 hours later I ordered a byrd Crow.
Got'em about a week later and was instantly in love, so much so that a Paramilitary was in my mail box less than a week after that! I really loved all the advice and support I found on this forum, and have been visiting every day since.
Great knives that im sure will be with me for a long time.

Ahhhhh, the Spyder bit ya good!! I LOVE my Spyderco's!! There is always one in my pocket, always!! CONGRATS on the GREAT knives!! Wait until you get a CF Military!!

The d`allara drop point is 55 dollars and is the best deal in their line...it can compete with the para, although I dare say that if you have a para, you won't carry the d`allara much. But it is nonetheless a far superior deal. Be aware it's a pretty large folder, but if you're looking into a chinook, I suspect this isn't an issue.

Conversely, consider the Centofante...love that knife, has a steel liner and VG10 and only 40 bucks. Also, the FRN looks nice on it, unlike most FRN knives (not just spyderco) which look plasticky.

I just got a full size Persian and, what a beauty. This knife makes no apologies to anything on the market. It's robust, it's comfortable to handle, it's extremely sharp, relatively easy to carry, not too big - not too small, it reeks of quality, and it's graceful and elegant.

Verdict: Get one.

The D'Allara is a winner too. Very nice and comfortable knife to handle. A benchmark for operational smoothness.

My first decent knife was an Endura. Loved it, carried it for years and worked it hard. It was a great intro to Spydercos. The bug bit bad and I have added a good number into my humble collection since then.

But don't listen to the collectors. Listen to the "one-knife" folks.... my twin brother bought a Delica back in the day. He's a paramedic and uses his knife every day. It only recently got moved to a drawer when i got him a Rescue Jr, which he loves even more.

When my younger brother turned 21, my twin and i clubbed up (knives are expensive in SA) and bought him a PE Delica, which is the only knife he owns. Loves it. But his wife tends to use it more than him!

Bought my son-in-law a Delica as well. He is a police officer and carries it daily. I have never seen him without it since he got it.

Then there's my brother-in-law. I got him a Kershaw Vapor last year for his birthday, which he is very fond of. Recently we were in a mall and they had some older Spydies on sale, so i bought 2 Michael Walker liner-locks and gave him one, seeing that it was his 25th wedding anniversary. He likes it more than the Kershaw :)

I think i got the whole family hooked, even though they are not knife nuts like me ;)
