I have an S1, which I like a lot, however the Air Assault keeps calling to me. I've read the glowing reviews, but I've never heard anyone compare the two blades. The S1 is very solid, but the handle is a little thin for defense applications, doesn't stick to my hand. Can anyone address the comparative merits of these two blades for field-work (long hikes & camping) plus defense (repelling outdoor varmints of whatever type)? Stop me before I spend (needlessly?) again!

Thanks for any & all insights, quips, editorial rants or prophetic warnings. FF

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

You can increase the "stickeness" like I did on my Trailmaster. Sew a leather cap over the end of the handle and then wrap the whole handle with leather lacing and then follow with bees wax over the lacing and cap. Makes a very sticky handle and is easy to touch up with a rub or too of the bees wax. The bees wax also makes the leather waterproof.

Remember, Freedom is not a spectators sport!
