Are you building the mister or buying one? If buying one, the specs should show the PSI and CFM and pressure needed. I think most use about 90PSI, and the air volume is low.
For compressors size - the biggest one your shop and wallet can handle is almost always the best to get. If you decide to use large air tools, or a blast cabinet later on, it will handle them. As far as working outside, air hoses go wherever you want the air, and store on reels when not in use.
If a portable is all you can do, get the most CFM at 90PSI that is available. A portable nail gun type compressor works well for many tasks.
