The dust from the grinder is making a mess in the shop and I'm trying to come up with a simple, cheap fix. I was going to build a wooden box that would be fitted with a furnace filter and a fan inside, but now I'm thinking of building the same box, but sealing up the back and running a vacuum hose into the back of it. I have limited space behind my grinder to place the box, so I thought the vacuum idea would work because I could hide the vacuum under the bench. Would this idea work? I'm also looking at building a desk for doing finish work, sketching, finish sanding gluing and other stuff. I was thinking of doing a stone top, but hen I saw the price (even for a 3x4 desk top). Corian would be more in the price range, but how would that hold up. What other suggestions can people give me. My bench top now is made of 2x6, so it's really strong, but not very level and not good for finer work. Thanks for any suggestions.
