About a month ago, a group of guys from the Air Force contacted me about getting a custom knife done. Turns out their buddy is retiring after 42 years (Wow!) in the Air Force, and they wanted to get him something special for his retirement. Apparently he is an avid hunter and outdoors-man and they thought my style would fit his personality perfectly. They helped come up with a rough idea of what they wanted and then let me go and do my thing. The result is the blade below . His retirement ceremony is late July, and that's when they will present him the blade. I hope he likes it!
A few details about the blade:
The steel is 1095 and I did a differential heat treat without clay to give it a cool little hamon. The flats are brute de forge and the blade is acid washed. The handle is an awesome cut of stabilized tasmanian blackwood, it has some really neat figure to it. I also made a brown leather sheath for vertical carry around the belt. It's razor sharp and ready to do some work!
Let me know what you all think!
