Air Rifle

A year ago, I started reading about air guns on this forum. I did some research on high performance air guns and bought myself a Webley Patriot (made in Turkey). It was heavy as heck and I just didn't like how it shot. I then made the move to a PCP (precharge pneumatic) air rifle. My FX Cyclone is powerful and accurate. It costs more than my RRA AR-15! But it is quite an air rifle and is almost as powerful as a .22 rimfire.

I bought a Logun S-16 PCP when I moved to AZ. Bad decision. The shop I bought it from told me that I could fill the bottle with 10 pumps using a hand pump. He lied! After 1/2 hour of pumping I got it all the way to 30 bar and the bottle holds 200 bar. I almost had a heart attack. Unless there is a SCUBA shop near you or a fire station that will fill you bottle, I wouldn't buy a PCP.

There are some PCPs now that can use CO2. That might be a way to go.

For what it's worth. Do you really want an air rifle almost as powerful a .22 RF? One of the advantages of an air rifle is that it is quiet and doesn't have too much power for your back yard. If your pellet exceeds the speed of sound, it will be pretty loud.
