Airkat

Wow, that's the ugliest knive I've seen in a while, seriously.
Don't bother with the chop test, a 10$ axe will beat the bugger.

Sour grapes, maybe?

Get serious guy, these blades are phenomenal!!

They're constructed well and you can tell a lot of work has gone into making them =) But it looks way too thick for its own good, assuming it's a knife and its for cutting things. Imho anyway, haven't had the privilege to handle one - so wouldn't know =]

Awesome collection you have there though =] rich guy :P

AirKats are the coolest. The grinds are vicious, the crazy chainsaw spine serrations are amazing and the sheaths are unbelievable. I've been wanting one for a while but they're always sold out on TAD Gear. A bit heavy on the old wallet, too. I have to choose my battles with the old lady when getting into knives in this price range.

As for Mies, there's always somebody looking to piss in somebody else's corn flakes. Notice those patches on the uniforms in the pictures, bub? the ones with the eagles and tridents? Those mean that those guys know more about knives than you do.

I didn't know they taught metallurgy in BUD/S.

nice looking, i have to say! im not much for fixed blade designs with #'s in the handle but the folders are sweet.

Touche'. Come to think of it, I've posted with exactly the opposite position to what I said above. I never learned anything about metallurgy or blade geometry in the Navy, though I wasn't sick enough to want to go through BUDs. They may teach it there. Sometime during hell week. Damn trolls. Makin' me stupid.

In my defense Mies' comments were more aesthetic than metallurgical, though. I imagine a SEAL or EOD dude has a better intuitive grasp of "combat" blade aesthetics than he does. Though those patches look awfully clean....I think Mies may be into old school style, like Loveless maybe.

Yeah, the Army didn't teach me anything about knives, either. Except that an M7 bayonet with a bent tip doesn't penetrate very well, and makes the bayonet assault course very unfun. :)

I'm unpleasantly surprised with the comments I triggered by just mentioning I find this knife ugly and by commenting on the sheet.
Is it only allowed to post 'oooh and aaaaah great i gotta have it' replies?

pfff, right! Thanks for the free 'lesson' in respect whilst not respecting my opinions.

Well, You wish everyone to respect your opinion first got to learn to respect others. The member is trying to share his beloved blade, all u can do is apperciated. At least he took time to make a nice photograph.

Imagine someone share his new borned child's pictures to you. Even though you honest think it is the ugliest baby you have ever seen, you don't say

"your baby is ugly."

Because, that is just mean. Though we have freedom of speach, yet, don't abuse it.

we're knife knuts and all, but please don't equate a blade to a person's child, that just makes me feel weird :foot:

Sur Vital looks nice~

It prob. is the only Airkat that i wish to own. Too bad that he doesn't make fixed blade anymore. To me, his folder looks cool but doesn't feel as comfort as easy to use compare with his fix blade.

Plus you said that a 10 dollar axe will beat it. That is an attack on the performance of a knife that you have never used or even bothered to give a chance.

Mies, your opinion is respected. You just come off a bit crass with your bluntness. Opinion is one thing but offending others is not the way to gain respect. If respect is not importaint to you , than by all means have your say. Choose your words wisely is my advice. I personally really like AIRKAT KNIVES. And to hear you degrade them really gets under my skin. Thats cool if they are not your cup of tea. All you have to say is they are not for you. Dwaine is a friend and I felt obligated to have his back. All I am saying is we as knife enthusiasts all have our favorite knives and makers. Dwaine summed it up with if everyone drove Chevrolets there would be no FORDs or DODGEs. If I have the choice to drive a Jeep or a HUMMER, I would take the HUMMER and you can bet an AIRKAT APACHE would be on the seat next to me. I have a favorite saying I would like to share with you Mies: AIRKAT KNIVES ... Like your favorite survival knife, ONLY ON STERIODS!!! Take care

Your probably a pretty good dude bro....and I'm sure there's a possibility that you were having a "BAD DAY"........and that's totally understandable.....I appologize for calling you and asshole...... I really do try to be better than that and more professional......I think maybe for future reference, it might be a good idea that " If you don't like someones knives" that you just don't say nothing at all bro.....I see several knives here and there that I don't particularly care for, but I don't come out and say "That's the ugliest knife I ever saw"...It's just not good behavioral comments and definetely lack common courtesy......I'm not upset at all that you don't particularly care for the knife ( Hell, I'm used to it....hahahaaaa )... My knives aren't for everyone by any means....I've heard it around the globe for years....That those AIRKAT knives are ugly or they are a piece of shit...etc,etc,etc... But I don't take it personally at all.......It's just a hard blow, when a man spends several hundred dollars for a knife that he truly believes in and posts pics etc....to have someone come along and say "That's the Ugliest knife I've ever seen ".....I'm sure that there had "NEVER" been a man on this or any other forum who has posted a pic of a knife that he has spent 3,4,5,6,7, or 8 to $1,000.00 on who was wanting to wake up the next morning and see a post that says "That's the ugliest knife I've ever seen"....Although a man post a pic for replies, doesn't mean he wishes to see "Ultra Negative" replies to his post !

I'm sure that your a good dude bro, and I just think maybe you were having a bad day....In which all of us do at some time or another :0

Take care all : Dwaine

Knives are intruiging tools, also aesthetically. I feel that extreme designs will often recieve extreme opinions, good and bad.

But lets keep in mind that we are talking about the aesthetics of an object.
So lets not get our knickers in a twist about it.

My post was very honest and direct (no bad day). Maybe too direct for some, so lesson learned.
