Airport closed due to UFO, again today

I hear the music, daylight disc

Three men in black said, "don't report this"

"ascension," and that's all they said

Sickness now, the hour's dread

All praise

He's found the awful truth, balthazar

He's found the saucer news

I'm in fairy rings and tower beds

"don't report this," three men said

Books by the blameless and by the dead

King in yellow, queen in red

All praise

He's found the awful truth, balthazar

He's found the saucer news

Dead leaves always give up motion

I no longer feel emotion

Where prophecy fails, the falling notion

"don't report this, agents of fortune"

All praise

He's found the awful truth, balthazar

He's found the saucer news

Damn; I just found that link! Sorry about all that; these threads often go for miles before I arrive, and it's easy to (inadvertently) repeat what's already been said.

Looks like it was some kids' balloons in NY

one of the gags back in the day is to day these body sized super thin plastic bags that dry cleaners use to protect garments, put some sheet of foil in them (suspended end to end with line), and then inflate them with whatever is handy... if it's REALLY sunny out, the sun is more than enough to keep them aloft (hot air).

they're large, they float, and if you tie them into a formation, they look amazing. course, THESE days, that would be wildly frowned upon, as they do show up on radar. the flashing light from the foil makes them appear to dart around as well. regular patterns even. simple chafe!

it also works surprisingly well with thin, black trash bags. they absorb more sun, so loft more or less easily. fill with hot air from a heat gun or hair dryer first. otherwise, unlike .0001 mil plastic, they're a bit ungainly.

most humans i know are so unobservant, they don't notice rainbows, deer in the road, or even barely the weather. the fact that so many people see UFOs makes me wonder.

as well, i know some people that say they were taken, had evidence, etc. the evidence is always "missing" when you want to see it. all those pieces of metal that so many claim to have, gone. well, except meteorites. you can buy those by the pound, and nobody is vanishing them. go figure :)

Coincidentally, today while reading a physics book I stumbled upon this quote from Richard Feynman:

"UFOs are better explained in terms of the unknown irrationalities of terrestrial beings rather than by any unknown rationalities of extraterrestrial beings."

Most folks find this hard to believe, given my position on the subject, but I have NEVER seen a UFO. I have seen what I think was a low-flying satellite that crossed the sky at night in about 90 seconds. (That is what? 32,000 mph?) It travelled in a perfectly straight line, a glowing gold shiny thing.
And, I have something metallic inside my left leg that I can't account for, but I have never seen a UFO.

I thought I saw a UFO a few years ago. Turned out to be one of these (see link below) I bought a few and light them off with my 11 year old somtimes. They are pretty cool. Every few time I light one I'll bump into a neighbor the next day and they will be like "I saw a UFO last night!"

those are great, and can be strung together too... i love the lady with her theory about formations. you know, it takes all kinds :)

i'd love to light a few of those up and launch them, but man, the fire hazard. there's no way you can ever track them and get them back. best done if they'll fly out to sea.

almost every piece of junk orbiting the earth is in a DB, and there's software to track them, and even predict when you can most easily see them at sunrise/sunset. people do this as a hobby. neat stuff.

as well, i've seen many random satellites, and the shuttle, and the space station. yup. stuff in orbit moves *really fast*

i've also seen venus, swamp gas, and fox fire, as well as glowing fungeses/etc.

No need for tracking software! It looked like a jumbo jet on fire at 5,000 feet!
If it hadn't been moving in a perfectly straight line, I might have thought otherwise, but the flight path put it in the man-made category.

By the immortal Blue Oyster Cult ...

Wouldn't it be sad if we were living in the greatest age of discovery- and we didn't know it?

Speaking of artifacts - - - i was watching the new Ancient Aliens premier last Thursday evening/night along with a couple more of UFO shows and one of the fellows, in one of the shows, who had an experience with a UFO actually had an artifact that he said a UFO ejected. it was a strange looking object to say the least, it was tapered from one end to the other and kinda scalloped looking with 4 scallops. he said that when ejected the one end was rounded but a piece was cut off and sent to a lab for analyzes. Also instead of being smooth the artifact was very rough in texture in sort of kinda a very heavily fish scale pattern its whole length and its overall appearance was what looked to be a medium gray in color that was achieved with an extremely coarse sandblasting. The artifact tested out to be an aluminum alloy....
it most certainly had an otherworldly appearance, whatever that's Supposed to mean. ;) :D

"space poop" they call it. I know of two such examples. All we know is that it is metal that was heated up to a liquid state and then passed through a strong field of some kind.
