I was amazed to see the Ak47 field knife design
This looks like an excellent camp/survival blade
Any more info such as ETA or in hand pics ?

Just saw midway USA has them for preorder with an expected arrival date of 7/21/15. I think it's a really good looking knife that would probably be extremely tough and very functional, but just slightly pricey...

I'm really looking forward to this knife.... Nice field /utility design, full tang, really good steel and the best thing about it is: it's a cold steel knife 😀

I love the blade shape and steel, but that handle shape!? It may be functional, but it looks so ugly and ungainly.

reminds me of this knife in a non tanto version. If its anything like it I'd absolutely love it

It looks a hell of alot cooler than that kershaw and since we all know what the handle will feel like.
It will be a heck of a chopper.

Still anxiously waiting on this one. Any ETA update??

I got to handle one of these at Blade. Well built, stout, nice weight distribution for field work. Standard 6-8 weeks for expected delivery.

Got one on pre-order. I noticed that it doesn't have a sharpening notch. When I sharpen knives that don't have a sharpening notch I find it difficult to sharpen the edge all the way to the end and I also experienced that my blades developed a slight recurve near the ricasso after some sharpening. I know that you can add a notch to the blade but with a wear resistant steel like 3V this may take some time.
Do you have any tricks for sharpening non-notch blades?

This may just be the proper replacement for the BK-2 that I got rid of, and the ESEE-5 that I was peripherally considering.

I think it might be even better because it should slice a lot better because of the thinner blade and will still be tougher because of the 3V. I'm curious how the handle design aids in chopping

Handled one down at Blade and just got a couple in along with some other knives. Sheath lock up is very good without being excessive, plus no movement or rattle. If you prefer a "high ride" rather than a drop sheath, you can always retrofit a Spyderco G-clip or TekLok.

If you notice, the Warcraft series of knives has nearly the exact handle ergos as the Recon 1. And the AK FN obviously has the handle of the AK-47, so its pretty much like these here are the fixed blade versions of those excellent folders.

I have the original Warcraft tanto in the 7.5 inch blade, which is pretty much a combat knife. The AK47 FN should be its perfect bushcraft/survival antithesis. I think "Team 3V" is an adequate name for the duo. Thats a play on "Team 3D" Bubba-Ray and D-Von Dudley from wrestling.

Hi mike.

I have been trying to reach you through your website and finally I thought why don't I check on blade forums. A member kindly directed me to your profile.

I am interested in a cs Laredo in one of your southern comfort sheaths. How would I go about that.

Regards
Madhava

I just got this in today and I love it. It's my 1st blade in the 5 inch class. I was leaning towards the ESEE 5 or the BK-2, but I found the ESEE to be too urban and the BK-2 too chodey. This one is perfect, it really locks in the hand. Really functional design, great materials. You pay extra but there is something reassuring about 3V, my Warcraft is an absolute demon I've sent to Hell and back and the DLC is still holding up. I expect no less from this.

Seriously tho, the ESEE 5 goes for $160 on KC and is in 1095 steel, for 10 dollars more with the AK Field you get the same length in 3V. I'm glad I waited so long to pull the trigger on a 5 incher. The BK-2 would be 2nd, because you actually get a 1095 with better corrosion and wear resistance (so they say) for half the price of the ESEE. And those Beckers are very personalizeable (ok how is this not a word).

Thanks for the review--been hoping someone would pull the trigger on this. I have to ask, though: "chodey?" What does that mean?
