As a well known starter of stupid threads, I am now starting another...

Can somebody convince me (read "me and my wife") why I should get an AK?

I am not really into collecting or collectablilty, but using and usability. I live in the desert (Arizona) and there is not really a whole lot of brush clearing that needs to be done. As for taking off a rattlesnakes head at a safe distance, I have found the $15 Ace Hardware garden hoe does just fine.

So, my concerns are about practicality in use and carry. Somebody please help me (ahem...my wife:D ) to understand the need.

Thanks

I have had this discussion with myself as well. It is a lot of INFI which would be cool in itself, and lord knows an effective tool against zombies....

But it also would put a fair amount of capital into one knife verses possibly two.....

Or perhaps we are thinking too hard and this is not a logical linnier equasion. :D

I lent mine to a good friend to check out for a while and his wife liked it more than either of us. I had the same question before I ordered. I have a tidal wave of blackberries on my property but so far I haven't used it on them. In terms of heft, overall feel and finish it FAR exceeded my expectations. Do we even use the word "need" around here anyway? ;)

Im in the same boat with u. (AZ here).
I am trying to talk my wife into letting me get one, but it just aint working "yet". For me, i dont see any practical use for it, but than again why did i need to order two FBM. It would just be somthing i can say i have, when there are no more around. I made a deal with my wife, that all my over time gos for my toys (read knives) so i figure i will wk one extra day a wk, and be able to add to my collection once a mo. I would grab one right now but i shot my wad for this mo. ( i ordered two FBM, and a Swamp Rat M6), so i will get one in a few wks if thay are still around.

I had the same dilemma last month when I saw the AK 47 at the company store. Why should I get one I asked myself. Well, I figure I have always wanted a sword and I might as well buy the best. If I buy something else, I will not be satisfied and end up getting the AK 47 anyway. The AK 47 will be great during Holloween when pumkins need to be disposed of. You can put the pumpkins on a stick and slash them to pieces. Order your AK 47 before its too late.

Why? Cause when they are gone, you will be paying $100 and up MORE for them in a few months due to demand.

Buy Now = Good Price
Buy Later = Good Price with value increased/reflected

I already saw those pictures. I also saw the ones where David Brown sliced almost halfway through a friggin' road sign and then stabbed through it with no degradation or damage to the blade whatsoever. Very impressive indeed. I just wish my wife were impressed too. :(

Buy 2, then divorce your wife and in the settlement you get to keep atleast one (50%) :D

Just kidding of course.. ;) If anything, they are a financial investment and are a very practical fill in machete.

The concensus seems to favor an AK as a Zombie-dispatcher.

Simply explain to your wife that, should you join the ranks of the undead, she may, with your full, loving support, cleave your head in twain with those glorious INFI inches. It's like a new wedding ring, if you think about it.

If you REALLY think about it.

It replaces the hedge trimmer, hatchet, and lopping shears. If you really think about it, it replaces numerous troublesome household tools & appliances, and saves on your electric bill, too! Got hedges to trim? Brush to clear? Limbs to take down? Watermelons to slice? Or for David Brown, teeth to pick? The AK47 does it all!

Actually, doesn't have to be movie-type zombies. In the crime & punishment biz, you see many wretched criminal junkies not all that different in appearance or behavior from some of the sci-fi variety. Some of the real thing are probably considerably more dangerous.
I just scored an AK, and my "practical justification" if I needed one, would be in case I run outa ammo. As it happens, I do have a lotta brush to clear, and if all goes well, that's all.
But ya never know. This 21st century ain't the Ozzie & Harriet world I grew up in.
