AK advise please! Wanting a VEPR!

Well, I don't know for sure, but he said it was an FN FAL--FN is Fabrique Nationale.....Right?

It was probably a DS ARMS FAL (not on DSA's website). They are "FN" Pattern but, NOT FN rifles.

The DSA "FN pattern" FAL rifles are solid and would serve you well. Be sure you understand whether you are getting a Metric or English pattern rifle.

The VEPR hunting rifles look very tempting too and are priced similarly. The 7.62x54R version would certainly hit hard and, when loaded with Lapua or European ammunition would match or slightly surpass 30-06 ballistics with their excellant loadings.

Get the VEPR. I shot a friend's VEPR and it was great and didn't fail once in the 500+ rounds we shot within an hour, shooting 3-4 rounds a second in most cases to try and see if we could shrink groups at 50 yards firing at a rapid rate.

VEPR is good. Military Arms Channel on youtube did a video review of the x54r model and had good things to say. The only down side to me is the slant cut on the receiver that prevents you from installing standard AK stocks. I wouldn't let that stop me from getting one though.

I wish Saiga made a x54r version. I have a .308 Saiga that I converted from the import configuration back to a standard AK trigger group and stock setup and it's awesome.
