I had a few minutes to do some more playing around with my AK. There is a little bit of chopping, some flex action, and some prying. I am thinking that with this and a smaller camp knife like my BATACLE I'd be covered in post situations. The AK is not the best for heavy chopping or prying but it does pretty darn good. Easily good enough to prepare firewood. And the blade remains straight and shaving sharp. I just can't get over this sword. The perfect "Utility/Survival Sword) IMHO!

(12.7 MB warning . Dial up beware!)

Note: The neighbors are having a party so excuse the music. But I like it. ;) )

The music is louder as the drinking continues. But I am forgiving as they always bring huge plates of food over for us. :D

This brings up a question for me. If one were to use this blade as a survival sword how would you guys carry it? Over a shoulder? Attached to a pack?

Your set up is what made me think of this. But would you set it up where half stuck out the bottom and the other half out the top? Or 2/3 out the top and 1/3 out the bottom?

for the ak i would put it on a larger pack, like the kifaru (which i plan on ordering soon).

but mine can have the clips put in multiple positions, so whatever you prefer. i would prefer it not stick too far over my head, it would snag on branches and such. but if its too low, you cant sit.

I love your videos, TL - Thanks! :D

I have no fear of using my AK if / when I get a chance. I plan to get a sheath for the pack.

Thanks Rat-30. The way Jerry and crew designed the AK their is NO fear.

Morimotom: The Kifaru is on me list of things to get. I was thinking of the same things about snagging on top and the problem with sitting. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

gatorzingo: I'll have to check out the rig. Thanks for the heads up.

Just an update on my neighbor's music. They are now doing a "ranchero" rendition of Boy George's song "Karma Chameleon". My wife and I can't stop laughing. :p

As always, thank you for another great vidcap :D thanks to you, Tyrkon, I'm NOW DYING for my AK :p

Another great Vid Tyrkon!

All these pics and vids are making me want one too
On the other hand I can only use an AK in our (little) backyard. We're allowed to have one but using one is prohibited in the Netherlands (strange knifelaws overhere:confused: :thumbdn:).

Thanks Crafft. I hear you about being able to use one. I have studied/taught FMA for years so I look to the AK to be a practical weapon if needed. But more realistically I see it as a "tool" I would really put to use if TSHTF. Such as an earth quake here in California. But it is not something that I can carry around either.

Yessir :D I knabbed a UG/Black Micarta with a UG BB Kydex sheath :p I'm drooling just thinking about it!! Should be on it's way very soon

Congrats brutha. I need me a sheath as well. Now that you, Morimotom, and myself have our AK's we need to go huntin' for dem "nuclear payloads". :D:thumbup:
