I have three of AL MAR knives that I need some help with. The first one is a fighter with a 7" blade that the top of the blade is sharpened for about 2" with the rest of the top with a saw edge, the entire length is 12 1/2" with a heavy type guard and brown micarta handles, the only markins on the knife is the AL Mar name and Seki Japan, it also has a lanyard hole. The sheath is black with a stone attachment. The back of the sheath has a name engraved with the SEAL logo.
The second is a folder that looks like the first knife, it has a 4 1/2" blade with heavy guard, and sharpened on both edges the top for about 2" but no saw blade, the overall length is 10" the sheath is a hard pouch with a metal sharpening stone inside (camo colored), the blade marking is the same as the first.
The last one is a smaller version of the 2nd folder 3 1/2" blade sharpened both sides about 1" on top overall length is 8" with a soft pouch that is black in color with velcro fastner, no stone.
All these knives have the same materal on the handles and are in great shape. I have had them in storage for about 6 years and would like to know if anyone can help me set some sort of price. Thanks
John

I was thinking the Al Mar Chris Reeves knives untill he said the handle material and then the second one being a folder, I think they all had the hollow handle. Still up for guesses.

The first knife sounds like a 2nd Gen. AMK SERE VIII (8), the 2nd is an early SERE III (3), and the 3rd is a SERE II (2)...

We collect SERE's, and while we're probably not interested in these, pictures could help us identify them for you...

There are a lot of variances in the knives, and by seeing the sheaths, grind, and swedge, we could probably give you some pretty close dates.

As to price, dependant on age, condition, and the market on that day you sold (older AMK prices are all over the scale), you're probably looking at maybe $300, $225, and $175 tops, on a good day...

Those are 'collector' prices, before selling costs...reseller's will pay roughly half that of the prices quoted.

Hope that helps,

That site has the photo captions for the IV vs. V, and VII vs. VIII reversed...
